Gustav as usual, you're right. I was high on my Redskins winning their opening game. And yes I was a little overdramatic concerning the green and gold.

Feel better dude! You were right about the beer drinking not being a big deal, too. I've been partying my ass off and hardly missing the smoke. I think I prefer the congratulatory looks of amazement to the disapproving looks of disdain, too. Rock on non-smokers!

Mckenzie's back on the roster... so you can pretty much start pitying the Bears (and most of the GB opponents) right now!
Go Packers!

GO go GO!!

McKenzie signed? Woo-hoo! Hope his attitude adjusted, too.

Sorry you're not feeling well, Jer. Here's some of my grandma's chicken soup with matzo balls -- no better cure, for ANYTHING.

Or a wonderful set of color pencils.

But that is early in the game. Once you get to use them, you tend to use more of some colors, and hardly any of some... so you'd pick and choose.

But let's say it would get you some starter color pencils.

Question for the now non-smokers....did you have an issue with a very heavy feeling in your chest about 3 weeks after quitting? I know that when you first quit it happens but I've been fine and all of a sudden I feel like I can't breathe the last few days. Just wondering if it is the non-smoking or if I should see my doctor.

It is NEVER a bad idea to see your doctor if you are questioning your health... but I wouldn't be surprised to hear it was your addiction making a last ditch effort in it's death throws. My throat got sore after I quit, for no reason at all (it never had while I smoked). My stepfather had to take 2 trips to the ER because he couldn't breath and feared a heart attack. Nothing wrong. Doc said his body was manifesting psychosomatic symptoms in an effort to get the addiction fed. Pretty scary, anyway you look at it. BTW, he was a very heavy smoker for over 30 years. If you haven't had a check up lately, I'd err on the side of caution and make an appointment.

And Rock On!

Kristie,

It'll be 10 weeks for me this Sunday.

I've got a really heavy chest right now too...but that's cause I've got a nasty cold. If you feel that something isn't right...go see your doc. A cigarette will NOT make it better - I promise you that Wink

Congrats on THREE WEEKS that's awesome! You're past the really hard part - now you just have to make sure that it doesn't catch you off guard.

Feel better soon and keep fighting the good fight!

Thanks for the advice. I have asthma (which is another reason why I quit...taking medicine for it and then having a smoke...how dumb was I??) so this feeling is not unusual. I just didn't know if it was common for someone who quit or if my meds aren't working right. I guess I should go, huh? Crap. I hate the doctor.

Try some yoga breathing exercises, Kristie. I guess there's plenty of crap in your lungs still, and the deeper you breathe, the more it'll get disturbed and possibly, give you some pains. Let's hope all you're feeling is fresh air!!

I did not experience all the symptoms myself when I quit, but when I was involved with the American Cancer Society/YWCA stop smoking clinics, many of the successful members reported all sorts of wierd symptoms from the expected nervousness, irritability, etc. to less frequent but not uncommon constipation, head aches, and yes, even a feeling of constricted breathing and/or unwellness.

As it takes up to 21 days for nicotine to clear the system, it is probable that Bill is right and your body is doing its final whine to be fed nicotine, but please do check with your doctor just to be on the safe side.

Nobody was reporting wierd symptoms due to not smoking after the first three or four weeks, and the best pleasures of not smoking usually start kicking in about then too.

Gold stars for Bill, Jer, Kristie!!!! Another successful week completed. Smile
