@Kolyo,
Quote:I will point one thing out, though, to Bill and others: IF it is indeed the case the 1 in 5 women gets raped, it does NOT follow from that that 1 in 5 men must be a rapist. If you have a co-ed frat house full of 20 men and 20 women, and if one guy date-rapes 4 women, then you'll have a situation where 1 in 5 women has been raped, but where only 1 in 20 men is a rapist.
You are quite right, Kolyo. And it's actually BillRM who regards most men as sexual predators which is why he invariably blames victims for their own rapes--they didn't take enough precautions to protect themselves from these sexual predators which he knows are everywhere, and so no man can be trusted because "men should not have to be the guardians of women".
Most men, at least 92%, are not sexual predators or rapists, or potential sexual predators or rapists, and there is no reason for anyone to assume that they are. I certainly don't.
Sexual assault/rape tends to be a repeated offense. The facts are that most rapes are committed by a
very small percentage of serial predators, who commit an average of 6 rapes each. That's what drives the rape statistics up.
This man, convicted of raping two women during dates with them, was just sentenced this morning. The first woman he raped, I believe, did not report the rape when it occurred 5 years ago, but came forward after he was arrested for the second rape. He was convicted after a jury trial because his accusers were believed. He is precisely the type of serial rapist who drives those rape statistics up, particularly for date and acquaintance rapes, and who should be stopped and prosecuted as early as possible.

Nov 7, 2014
EL CAJON, Calif. - A former Del Mar man convicted of raping two women, including one he met on the Christian dating website ChristianMingle.com., has been sentenced to 37 years to life in prison.
Sean Patrick Banks, 39, was convicted in June of raping a La Mesa woman in her apartment after they met on ChristianMingle.com in November 2012 and raping another woman he met on Match.com in 2009.
Prior to the sentencing, Banks said if the victim would take a polygraph test -- and pass it -- his attorney would not file an appeal.
The judge admonished Banks, calling him "arrogant."
One of the victims, a woman named "KK," spoke to the court and addressed Banks.
"I want Sean and his family to know that I pray for him every day. I pray that he realizes what he did was wrong. I pray that he understands how terrible this has been for me, and I pray that he realizes that he is not smarter than the law and he can't just hurt people and get away with it with no punishment," she said.
After the verdict, Deputy District Attorney David Williams III called Banks a "very dangerous Internet predator" who talked about Jesus and the Bible with the woman he met through ChristianMingle.com before going to her apartment.
The woman Banks met on Match.com said he forced her to have sex after they had dinner and drinks at a La Jolla restaurant.
Defense attorney Brian J. White said the case involved "consent given" and "consent withdrawn," telling the jury that when the victims told Banks to stop his sexual advances, he did.
Banks' attorney said he would appeal the case based on evidence that was not presented during the trial.

It wouldn't surprise me, given his pattern, if this man has committed even more sexual assaults/rapes on women who never reported them or came forward.
