Prostitute or Decent Girl

So...whomever makes less cash is the prostitute? How so? For prostitution to be classified as so, there must be cash in exchange for sex. It's preposterous to state that a difference in incomes makes a person a whore....other factors come into play. But--obviously, you know that. I no longer work. My husband's salary has increased to the point it's foolish for me to do so. We've been together 21 years. Supported one another in every way possible. Are you saying I'm now a whore?

Geez Germlat... do you have to take every tongue in cheek comment so seriously? People get and stay with other for all sorts of reasons, it is not just money. In my opinion, we are all whores (so don't take that too personally).

I get what you're saying ( I think). I am a little driven to bite sometimes....I clamp down at times. But seriously--in relationships things change...the point is to be there when your partner needs you. Being there for each other. Many skip out when it's no longer about them.

I guess it depends on what one means by "not a matter of willingness". If one means that the prostitute wouldn't be willing to sleep with the same customer in the same way if she didn't get paid for it, that only makes prostitution the same as any other job. I, too, would be in "dire straits of one form or another" if I hadn't had the chaste jobs in engineering, researching, and computer-programming that I have worked in throughout my career.

I got no problem with prostitutes or those who avail themselves of their services. What two consenting adults agree to do is none of anyone else's business, unless someone's being victimized.

If they're consenting, how is that abuse? You mean a person who's trapped with an abusive partner? I wouldn't call that victim consenting, exactly. Trapped is more like it.

I refuse to deem ladies of the evening to be any less than respectable.

I think that is different - or do I. Mostly I do.
I'd say it depends and that is not my area of smarts. I think it can get really ugly and despite some sort of ok said, can well be criminal.

Pimps and prostitutes can be bad news. It's a world I don't know and like much else probably has ambiguities.

Back in the day, I used to have a caseload which invarioubly included five or six women who were on some form of Court order after having been sentenced for soliciting, etc.
Out of the hundred or so that I have interviewed and worked with in my time, I would say that at least 75% of them did it to feed a drug habit.
Quite a few of them confessed to starting out in the "profession" after having got hooked on drugs.
And a fair few of those ended up working for the man or men who got them hooked on drugs in the first place.

A thoroughly seedy and nasty industry, as far as I am concerned. I never once came across a situation where the woman chose this profession as a lifestyle, and didn't have to do it because of some snide controller in the background putiing some form of pressure on her somehow. Drugs, never ending debt spiral, violence, intimidation.....you name it, the vast majority of my relevant caseload "chose" this "lifestyle" because of it.

As your sample was those who ran afoul of the law my guess would be that they was mainly street walkers not the internet escort level hookers or the dancers/massage workers types.

Lot easier and cheaper in terms of law enforcement man hours to go after the public nuisance of women walking the streets then to go after the "higher" level of hookers with string set ups and far more pressure to do so.
