@FBM,
Yes, what is this point you're trying to make with the graphs?

@One Eyed Mind,
I've already answered that question.

@One Eyed Mind,
You can't look at it and draw your own inferences?

I'm with FBM - it's just data - you interpret what it means apart from the obvious (America's prison population jumped 2 million from 1980 to 2006 from a base of 500,000).

@hingehead,
It's AMBIGUOUS. It's a picture with numbers and a graph to represent the nature played out by these numbers. However, it does not do well in establishing the important factors that resulted in these numbers, instead it gives you numbers and your brain makes basic connections, instead of thinking, "perhaps there's more to these numbers". So I'd like to make sure, that you are sure, of the claims which you make.

So called drug war and the fact that business builds prisons that need prisoners.

It's just data. Make of it what you will.

@FBM,
These graphs do not make sense, as the violence it entails does not fit today's reality and all of which goes on each day. If these graphs were true, there would be undeniable events of it taking placing in front of many people. Everyone would talk about it, but it's only seen on TV, instead. If it's such a serious issue, it wouldn't be treated as a commercial service built on fooling the gullible into believing any of this is actually taking place. I mean when you put it all together, there would be camps in sight - there would be police everywhere. They aren't. Our internet is fine. This is all fear tactics. It's simply not true. The reality that is here is not the reality you are claiming exists. You based this off of people who make money off of lies and fear mongering.

@One Eyed Mind,
That second one is by the FBI. I'll see if I can track down the source of the other one.

"there would be camps in sight"

Most prisons are located away from urban centers, I'm told.

@FBM,
There are no prisons - secret militant ones that test on human beings. This is all, again, fear-mongering tactics. When something brings you great fear, it's not true - when something brings you great pain, it's very true. Truth does not come from fear, so as long as you resort to fear, you are painting yourself black.

@FBM,
From FBI on violent crimes from 2008 to 2012.
Their stats also shows crimes dropping. Why are the police using more violence and military equipment against civilians. It seems to this observer that the police is going in the opposite direction of what's needed to police this country.

@One Eyed Mind,
Who said anything about secret militant prisons that test on human beings? (Strawman)

The source of that other image is also the FBI: http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/the-fix/wp/2014/08/15/how-the-number-of-justified-police-homicides-has-changed-since-the-1990s/

Unless it could be shown that the decrease in crime rates is a direct result of the militarization of the police. We would have to go back a ways to see which started first. If we can establish correlation, we'd still have to establish causation, though.

@FBM,
That is what I was referring to when I said "camps". You are repeating fear-mongered information, which is where the "camp" theories also come from. You said the camps were in secret - why are they in secret? Please tell us why a camp... is in "secret".

Except for the swastikas, that's pretty much what's happening now. OK, they're not concentration camps but county lockups ain't much better.

SO...you must mean that people are being dragged form their homes without judicial oversight...if I read your statement right?

@FBM,
I believe police violence exacerbates the problem more than solving it. In what kind of environment can the police use military equipment against its own people? How does their military tactics reduce crime?
How many communities purchased or received military equipment where the community has been relatively crime free? For what purpose?
Are these police departments preparing for war with its own people?

Another thought; I hope somebody will step in front of those tanks like the Chinese citizen did in Tianenmen Square in Beijing to stop this craziness.

Seems like you're trying real hard to put words in my mouth, what with secret prison death torture experiment camps and the like. Wink

We all seem to agree that it's up to the individual to interpret the data. As I said before, I'm just putting it out there to have real information to discuss, rather than just opinions and rhetoric.
