In athletics there are a lot of sports and activities. The most glamorous is the 100 yards/meters dash. A wrestler may run the 100 in 12-14 seconds but he is still an athlete. A slow runner doesn't mean he is not an thlete. Similarly, a low IQ score doesn't knock one out of the running. The IQ test started out as pedestrian measure to weed out recruits for the French military cannon fodder. So basically it is a test of the lowest order i.e. testing your mental reflexes. It measures the quickness of the mind to solve basic intelligence problems. Just as in athletics there are many sport activities so in mental abilities there are many activities. Some of the geniuses were involved with creative work that is analyzing, solving and composing works in music, mathematics, art, etc. Some excelled in some activities as their brains were wired for it and not that well in others. Newton was first class in Mathematics and Physics but a dud in Biblical scholarship and alchemical studies. He wrote volumes onthe Bible predicting theSecondComing. His alchemical studies were efforts to convert lead to gold in a furnace. He spent most of his time in the latter two activities.

IQ measures mental agility that is all.

The IQ test didn't do the French military any good. The French military performed miserably against the English and German military machines.

i didnt read this post and dont plan to because most people are fucken morons and just boast about their iq and have no idea what the hell iq is on these type of forums.

what is an iq...
all an iq is, is basically you ability to reconize mathematically patterns, basically, there are a few other aspects to it but that is basically it.

so the higher your iq the better you can make out patterns visually and mathematically... might explain why the highest iq score are with chest players, mathematicians and physistis.

so does having a high iq make you smart? have a low iq make you dumb? no it doesn't.

what doesn't iq test include? Knowledge or wisdom.

you can have a iq of 170 whatever and not know a dam thing about the world, history, computers, forgien languages, etc... iq test dot test how much you know just if you can understand complete patterns which dont take any knowledge to know. hence, usually historians

wisdom is logcally decisions like should i shove my penis into the meat grinder... does iq test test for this? no they dont

therefore you can have a high iq but no know a thing, you could know a lot but have a low iq, and the combination with high or low wisdom.

conclusion, iq score mean dick all, and stop boasting about your iq because it doesnt make you smart... go play a game of chest.

if you want to know my iq its 156, so lick my balls if you think im just bashing because i have a low iq.. im just wiser than you and can see what an iq test really is...STUDY WHO "SOCRATES" IS AND WHAT HE TAUGHT!!

as for my spelling.... whatever i dont care

Well, carthous ... you have an IQ of 156. Do you think you should shove your penis into the meat grinder?

Just curious.

funny he wants us to study socrates, who said he was wisest of the greeks only because he knew he wasn't wise instead of mistakenly thinking he was wise.

I just took the Tickle test. I got 126 and I'm 13 years old. I don't know what that means so I'm looking around on the internet to find out. Tickle told me I'm an insightful linguist. That sounds good to me since I plan on being a writer. Oh and Prince El, if you got a score of 51 I doubt that you would be able to read let alone spell good and use the internet. Have you ever heard the story Charlie? We read it in school and Charlie had a score higher then 51 but not high enough to have a normal IQ. Charlie was worse at spelling and had no idea how to use punctuation so take a hint and stop faking. It's annoying and no one really wants to talk to someone who just wants attention.

I believe you're refering to Flowers for Algernon. I too, am 13. I also write. Very Happy

Well, in Charlie Gordon's case, he was extremely motivated to "get smart", so they performed the operation on him. Then, he was extremely intelligent until his mental contidion began to degenerate so that he was as dull, or duller than before. By the way, Daniel Keyes is a writing genius.

So, you write any fiction?

Oh, and by the way, 126 puts you around the top 98th percentile of the world's population. That is, by IQ's unreliable standards.

Yes..
You can't really use maths and statistics to solve a probability of someones I.Q.
I believe that someones intelligence is all a product of their lifestyle. If someone was to have an I.Q. of 300 or not is irrelevant to probability, it is however relevant to if they do or don't want to learn. We cannot put a formula to the human mind as we don't yet understand it ourselves. Wow i just read the last comment. I've got an I.Q. of 164 and i'm only 15! God i must be a genius LOL!

Different IQ tests have different top scores, so just quoting a number is irrelevant. A score of 130 on some tests puts you in the top 2%; another test might require 150 to reach that point.

In addition to their own proctored tests (which you can find out about on their website), Mensa also allows applicants to submit results from prior testing that show results in the top 2%. SAT and GRE scores are among accepted tests, as well as documented results from a number of reputable tests.

FWI Wy, US Mensa doesn't accept current SAT or GRE scores.

Who had the highest IQ?
It seems that it's been at least 5 or more years since I heard, on the radio, an author discussing a book (pretty sure it was a woman writer) dealing with this topic. It was a biography of a man who, it was claimed, had an astounding IQ of 300-something1!! I cann't recall what type of IQ test this incredible score was attained on, however.

In doing a search for this info., I stumbled across this site. I DO recall clearly, though, that this man's first name was "ivan". The second name was of Jewish ethnicity, and he was one of those super-brilliant child prodigies who winds up learning many foreign languages at an extremely young age. He went off to a great university, maybe Harvard, and graduated (probably) before he even got into his teens, and became a professor at an extremely young age. His students ridiculed him, and he would literally shake and tremble as he attempted to give a lecture and they jeered him. Forgot to mention that his parents had done everything they could to produce a super-genius from his earliest years. One parent, I think his father, was a psychiatrist or psychologist. Later on, he became a Communist, and his brilliant beginnings were marred by an end that was quite dismal. One mental feat of his that stands out in my mind was his ability to memorize, in a flash, a railroad timetable.

In doing my search for "highest IQ" and +Ivan, I've come acros the name of Ivan Illich a # of times, but I kind of doubt that this is the individual that this book was about. However, I'm going to do a bit of additional research on Ivan Illich.

Yessssss! Thanks SO much for that info! I had a strong feeling that his last name began wth the letter S, but had no idea that his first name was taken after the famous author....could have sworn the first name WAS Ivan, though maybe I confused his father's first name with his(?). I commented on the last name sounding Jewish - Sephardic, that is, which I assumed was spelled: Sides, or perhaps Sedes.

I'll definitely check out your post on him, too.

OOPS! NOT the famous author, but the great psychologist. His brother Henry was the author, of course.
