The return of Jesus would be the end of Christianity.

As the title says, I believe that if Jesus were to return that would be the end of Christianity.
Why? Because I cannot imagine in a million years that the Vatican or the religious leaders of any Christian branch would willingly give up their authority to a man claiming to be Jesus Christ.

And would any Christian believe that this man who claimed to be Jesus returned was authentic?
I am pretty sure the answer is a big fat 'no'. They would demand proof in the form of miracles or something. Ironic, isn't it?

I think the most likely scenario would be that Jesus would be branded a fake and a fraud, so that Christians all over the world could continue to peddle their fancies as divine law.

@Cyracuz,
Control over the masses is a human frailty that can't be overcome by the 'arrival' of their massiah. Their ability to continue collecting $$$$$$$ will disappear when they admit he is what he says he is! Nevah hoppen; they're not going to let all that power disappear.

@OmSigDAVID,
Yes. Christianity is about faith. If they were to start demanding proof it would kind of break the whole concept.

@Cyracuz,
What an absurd premise. there's no logic in it at all!

Regardless of one's present beliefs, if the mythical Jesus were to return, that would be the end of mankind on earth.

@OmSigDAVID,
How is he going to "provide proof," when nothing the bible stated about miracles hasn't proven anything! Mythology is not proof.

On the contrary. The idea of Jesus is a source of great power which men wield against other men. If Jesus were to return that power would be no more.

Oh don't you worry... They'd put him in Gitmo and quickly forget about him.

The return of Jesus will leave people in no doubt that it's him; it should be quite a show so make sure your camcorders charged up..Smile

“So if anyone tells you, ‘There he is, out in the wilderness,’ do not go out; or, ‘Here he is, in the inner rooms,’ do not believe it. For as lightning that comes from the east is visible even in the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.
Then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven. And then all the peoples of the earth will mourn when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory" (Matt 24:26-30)

@Cyracuz,
You wouldn't see Christianity end, you would see some of it's believers shamed for how they have portrayed Jesus and his teachings. The rest of us unbelievers are screwed.

@OmSigDAVID,
Think about it. What's the modern equivalent of being tortured to death by the Romans? Being tortured for life by the Americans, of course...

@Cyracuz,
If the Buddha ever came back, it would be the end of Buddhism.

(Why is it so much easier to criticize other people's religion than your own.)
