The return of Jesus would be the end of Christianity.

Think about it. What's the modern equivalent of being tortured to death by the Romans?
Being tortured for life by the Americans, of course...

@Baldimo,
Of course. God forbid that they could escape their fate through death.

Unfortunately, modern legionaries don't pierce their victims' heart to shorten their agony...

@Olivier5,
If you think you are going to get a pity party out of me for people in Gitmo, you are sadly mistaken. If they wanted to escape via death, they should have shot themselves before they were taken. Would have solved a lot of problems.

If you want to feel pity and sorry for them, be my guest.

@Baldimo,
I do feel bad for the guys in Gitmo.

'Whatever you did to the least of these, you did it to me, and whatever you did not do for the least of these, you did not do for me.'

So by his own saying, Jesus is already in Gitmo, being tortured by the new Romans...

@OmSigDAVID,
Is that a poetic question, or a spelling one?

Picking on spelling and grammar issues has got to be the lowest form of debate.

@Cyracuz,
well it's basically that, Revelation says he has to conquer the Anti Christ. It doesn't seem like there is any yet expectation for the World to change, or have changed, by the time Jesus returns. Again Jesus' life mystery is that he had the power to come off the cross and didn't. Of course the same thing will happen, except this time he fights back but when he does he is fighting another powerful figure so the world is in wreck and chaos as the result of Jesus having to fight a figure as powerful as he is.

In essence yea, the same thing happens. They attempt to kill him, like usual. They hate Jesus. They don't need proof either. Jesus is set to conquer, in order to do so he must fight The Anti Christ, at Megido.

A Christ Like person, obviously if there is a war, that means that there is actually another person who has the same power as Jesus.

Otherwise the bible is just nuts.

That's the mystery of Christ though. It's a proof of sainthood too, not always but usually, usually a feature. It's a proof that Jesus is doing the miracles, and not some demon. If Jesus is doing the miracles then the world must hate him.

OmSig doesn't know what he is talking about. He is a grammar dunce.

@Cyracuz,
Yes, I agree.
The aspect of 'faith' is paramount and underpins the entire concept of christianity.
Then why 'miracles'?

Because when you create a Platonic societal system - It dwindles and collapses without its analogous 'boosters'.

I think the most likely scenario would be that Jesus would be branded a fake and a fraud, so that Christians all over the world could continue to peddle their fancies as divine law.

Hasn't this already happened? There are a lot of people in the world who already claim to be Jesus [returned], and they are pretty much ignored except by a few local followers.

"Christianity" took on a life of its own centuries ago, its origins and true face lost in the dust of stone tablets and human failings, never to be seen again.

@Cyracuz,
Sorry Cy but Jesus is already here. Wasn't Biblical Jesus preaching that we are all potentially Jesus? You know, as in we can all do the deeds that he did. Anyone could make themselves like how Jesus acted if they actually wanted to.

It would be more than a miracle if he showed up. It would be a special creation, since he likely did not ever exist anyway. Smile

Maxdonca asked: Why is it so much easier to criticize other people's religion than your own.

Well if a religion hasn't got Jesus the Son of God Himself in it, it's not a religion at all, it's just a mickey mouse sideshow..Smile
