BPB, saying that guy is representative of the right constitutes a copy-cat crime, doesn't it? Laughing

I know when I've been zinged.....and I know when I'm caught. You got me. Way to the right of the right is a whole different animal.

Besides after seeing that picture of you and kickycan wrestling, I don't want to tangle with you. I'd be afraid of the Mike Tyson treatment. Shocked Razz

I just wrote an e-mail to the site asking:

"what is the purpose of this site?? I fail to see it clearly.

In fact I think your site is grotesque, making a "funny" top20 over US soldiers who have died non-combat deaths. So, please, enlighten me, is there any purpose of this site and what is it?"

anyone else wondering the same?

The site is not funny at all olobolo, and I might be considered by some to be 'liberal', although I shun political partisanism altogether, and therefore refuse to label myself. After looking at the site, I did the same. It is just disgusting, and really should be to both liberals and conservatives.

All right, I guess I have to check the site out now. Hmm, will that make it popular by definition?

Ah, no link, you mean I would have to work to see this site all here think is horrible? And, no, I'd really not like to see the descrubed link on a2k.

Never mind the site; assuming it is horrible, the initial topic post is incredibly insulting. I paid attention here in a secondary fashion, to review the replies to that ill thought out bludgeon.

Well, osso, a brief description of the site would be photos of soldiers who died in non-military accidents, with a 'vote' option to determine just how dumb they were. It's just really in poor taste, as was the intent of this thread. Well, welcome to the internet. Rolling Eyes

Hmm, isn't there a dumb moves of the year type of list that comes out, unrelated to military matters? I can't remember if there are some deaths in the list I am thinking of, but I think so. Never funny to me..

It cartoonizes people.
Applying it to our military, I can see that is mocking is at the least in extremely poor taste. Although, maybe if mentioned by others in the military, there would be some catharsis in it, rather like the banter that is famed to come from some surgeons in the operating theater. But that's a little different, more of a release of anxiety, and not set to really mock those situations or people, and maybe the within-the military banter would be the same.

Then to do it do it re enemy military personnel...
wait, this is getting familiar.

I know, the prisoners at Abu Graib weren't military, but still, they were really being mocked.

I'm not sanguine about mocking people in general - another extension of this subject, much less in the link of the topic.

When I was in college, there was an explosion in the chem lab at the school and a fellow was burned very badly and eventually died. A friend's boyfriend kept making sick jokes. She ended up marrying that boyfriend. I thought he was heartless.

So you're taking the comment of one idiot and assuming that all liberals think the same way.

Come on, this is Logic 101 stuff. You can't possibly be that ignorant.

mysteryman, I'm not exactly a lefty, but I will not be put into a position from anybody like you to apologize for anything that you might find on the internet or media. I don't have to defend or support anything or anybody for anything stupid you might find. In other words, get a life.

and a little thought (typical of most of mine):

does the site in question have advertizers?

if so, the traffic generated by this thread (myself excepted - i'm really not interested) is telling them that it is popular, and thereby, giving it increased revenue, and therefore 'web life'! Rolling Eyes

[the sort of think that makes capitalists happy! Laughing ]

I find it amazing that half of Americans think GWBush is doing a good job as our president; we've sacrificed almost 800 of our military and 150 billion dollars that continues to increase every day to bring democracy to Iraq - thinking it's going to bring more security to Americans. What this administration has accomplished is just the opposite; the majority of Arabs no longer have positive feelings towards Americans except for the few Iraqis and Afghanis who think they're better off today than they were two years ago. In the mean time, we've lost most of our allies and the majority of people's positive thinking about America. Al qaida continues to recruit more enemies to our country. More countries are being attacked by terrorism. How in the world can people in this country think we are safer today than we were two years ago? With the exposure of our cruelty to Iraqi (and Afghani) prisoners during the past week, we've accomplished in losing the hearts and minds of more people around the world. When will Americans wake up?

yes, it really is too much. you always have to count some idiots, then some really devoted members, then die-hard fans that are simply blind for anything then official figures from White House (that goes for all political options of course, at this moment for Republicans, next time for Democrats, in other country for other parties) but 47% is absolutely weird.

We haven't just sacrificed our military lives -- I say "we" because whatever administration prevails in this country is what the rest of the world sees.

not exactly true Lightwizard, although I will not argue that there are close-minded people everywhere.
I really can't have bigger animosity towards US government then I already have, but I never approached American citizen with any kind of animosity. And if in any of my posts I refer to the USA in a way that it could be interpretated as attack on USA in any other then administrative/political matter, or it sounded like a opinion about all Americans, then it was just matter of not being clear enough.

We have sacrificed more than the lives of our soldiers in Iraq, we have sacrificed our good name.
