Right, Equus. Very Happy The ghost dog in the TV series was Neil, the St. Bernard.

But, the ghost dog in the movie, "Topper Takes a Trip" (1939) was Asta as Mr. Atlas. Roland Young and Billie Burke played Topper and his wife. Cary Grant and Constance Bennett were the ghosts.

For the record, Anne Jeffreys and Robert Sterling were the tv ghosts and Leo G. Carroll was Cosmo Topper. In the very first Topper movie I don't believe there was a dog, just in a sequel or two.

Right, Asta was only in the 1939 movie Topper Takes a Trip, but that's the one I remember. Laughing

Shall I ask one?

I have to admit that I cheated on this one. Embarrassed I know that you will forgive me, 'cause I found a clip from the original show, with the advertisement for Molle. What is so amazing to me is the length and detail of the commercial. Today, the ad guys have to get a message across in a few seconds, but this one goes on and on, in agonizing detail.

I think that you will get a kick out of it!

Remember the old Blue Coal ads? They also ran forever until you wanted to skip the whole thing and go to bed.

Alan Ladd as Dan Haliday would go anywhere, do anything, according to his business card. The show was -?

Molle (pronounced mo-LAY) was shaving cream- it came in a squeeze tube instead of a cup-and-brush system of lathering. An innovation in the '40's.

"It's smooth! (so smooth!)
It's slick (so slick!)
It's a smooth-smooth slick-slick shave you get when you use Molle!"

Speaking of sponsors, I never fail to get a kick out of listening to the Inner Sanctum Mysteries sponsored by Lipton Tea & Lipton Soup. The host was this morbid pun-making maniac, similar to the cryptkeeper on the recent "Tales From the Crypt" TV show; but this kindly little old lady would come on and plug Lipton Tea- the contrast between the menacing squeaking-door-keeper and that little old lady was hilarious.

One show was sponsered by Bromo Seltzer. The show didn't frighten me, but the commercial did. These hoarse raspy voices whispered in unison, "Bromo Seltzer, Bromo Seltzer ..." I always hid my head under the blanket.

The Allan Ladd show featured a business card, saying something like: Adventure Wanted. Will go anywhere, do anything. Write --- --
The address was the name of the program.

Hey, thanks.

Well, my show is a western about a widowed farmer and his son living in New Mexico. The father is very expert with his specially modified Winchester rifle, and often has no choice but to use his skill to defeat the bad guys.
