In the end, how is custom kitchens so bad it needs to be censored but Rosa's calling mixed race people "hybred" so all right?

Okay. Go ahead and try and buy one of these custom kitchens from one of these sites. Play Russian roulette with your identity and all of the money from your bank account or credit card. There is no way to verify which spammer is a legitimate business and which one is just phishing for identities to steal.

And really, it shouldn't be the moderators' job to verify every business trying to hock their respective crap.

@tsarstepan,
Plain fact is, Robert has decided not to collect membership fees and has declined any income from ad revenue. If he so dislikes advertising, why on earth would he allow unknown parties to advertise for free.

@tsarstepan,
I think its good to take down all commercial posts, I report everyone I find.

But those discount kitchens are just so very tempting, indeed.

@roger,
There are actually ads on the site, logged in users don't really see it. The site doesn't make money now because we aren't really focused on it but we have some big plans we hope to get around to sometime.

Yes, the population could decrease, but as noted by Hawkeye

If it does, the population will reach zero .
As you may have noticed, and as was commented on else where on A2K,
many of the long time posters, seem to have reduced their participation greatly.

The suggestion of shutting down the "ignore" button will also cause
the population of A2K folks to fall. I love the "ignore" button because
it keeps me calm and composed.
I join u in your love of the Ignore button.
Now that Robert has informed us that he has big plans for this site,
there need be no more concern qua shutting down.

I hope that u will join BillRM and me for dinner sometime, Dr. Miller.
What cuisine do u prefer ?

Big plans that he admits may never happen, and in any case does not address the issue of finding users or workers in a cultural environment that is hostile to the free flow of ideas.

Your site is the best one for debate
that I have encountered!

Please accept my gratitude for your hospitality.

I have not spent a lot of time looking, but every other so called ideas site that I have seen is so strictly controlled that the flow of ideas gets strangled.

@hawkeye10,
Cultural environment is one thing; rules and administration are quite another. You bring your bright, shiny ideas to the marketplace, and they are published for all to see. If nobody buys, well, tough titty, kitty. By the way, I'm on one forum that would delete the post because of that last sentence.

By the way, you do bring ideas and observations that are worth discussing.

YEA, U shud demand your money back, Hawkeye!
Concerning the possibility of "may never happen",
I feel no need of changes. I m pefectly content with the status quo.

U r an impolite guest on Robert 's site. Did your mother ever teach u any manners ?

R the customers in your restaurant as discourteous to U ?
Do thay expectorate upon u ?

U R delusional thinking that me pointing out that this site is an aberration in this culture is showing a lack of courtesy.

It was clearly a complement.

I'm not so sure about that. A complement/url], after all, is "something that completes something else or makes it better". Whether your remark made A2K better, let alone complete it, is in the eye of the beholder to say the least.

@Thomas,
Hawkeye has long had a problem with basic English. He spends too much time talking to BillRM, it's rubbing off.

I was taught at a very early age,
that when invited to someone 's house,
u treat the host with at least decent respect & courtesy.

If that proves to be impossible, then u leave.
I still believe that now.

@Miller,

On the old Abuzz, moderators received a small fee ( about $15/hour ) for moderating on the site.

Some of the fee collected on A2K could pay a small stipend to moderators and also pay a small stipend to Craven for all of his time/energy on this site

Stopping here. $15 an hr? I used to Moderate in my sleep, wake, come on, check, ban, etc.. I'd be rich by now.

I Moderated for no income.

If I was asked if I would pay something per annum I probably would to see the site continue, If I was asked by Robert to help, I would to keep A2K going.

I've learnt that brains can create something awesome, money is often the key to continue.
