Damn. JTT actually had a lot of good stuff to say. JTT could go ballistic, too. Yep. JTT and I got along OK. He's actually the most consistently anti-imperialist I've ever known.

I was wondering what happened. No doubt, he danced the line.

I dont know anything for sure, but I recall a couple of years ago the claim from JJT of a temp banning.

no, but I have a memory of JTT being gone for a long spell, coming back claimed to have been banned. Memories can be faulty.

I find JTT to be plenty annoying, and is pretty much the last person here that I would to have a beer with, but I dont agree with any banning for ideas, if that is what happened.

@bobsal u1553115,
Did you get the business about "Master" straight? I was thinking about the use of the term "HeadMaster"...usually used in "high -end" prep schools in the US and elsewhere.

His mental impairment was hopeless; no loss.

Maybe he was hit by a car.
Maybe he mouthed off in the real world n suffered the consequences.

"Mess" is a word with many inferences. One inference is that anyone questioning free speech, in any way, is doing something that is upsetting some very nice apple cart, so to speak. That could be a false assumption, if that would be the inference. I prefer responses in standard, non-colloquial English, nuanced for complete understanding by a reader.

@OmSigDAVID,
When JTT first came to A2K he was just frequently annoying, but either he became emboldened or more outraged and then it was all anti-American screeds, all the time.

At that point I felt certain that he was a reincarnation of that most noxious of Abuzz characters, marburg (although he never acknowledged, it I always thought marburg took the name from the deadly hemorrhagic fever virus). Not only did marburg share JTT's obsession with anti-American screeds, he would post ugly, gloating comments about the deaths and maiming of American soldiers. He was truly despicable and yet I distinctly recall a number of the liberal Abuzz members writing "I agree with a lot of what you say marburg, but...," I'm pretty sure the same sentiment was initially expressed by some A2K posters.

I confronted JTT with my theory that he was a new version of marburg, but he never unequivocally denied it. If he was marburg reborn then he at least modified his vehement hatred for America and stopped celebrating the deaths of its soldiers.

For quite a long period of time I found him repugnant and frequently responded to his posts. I also had him on Ignore for a long period of time, and I'm not happy to admit I encouraged others to ignore him, and joined in "gang bashing" him on a couple of occasions.

I engaged in discussions with him via PMs in an effort to point out how he might better make his points if he changed his approach, but he would have none of it.

I certainly can't say we developed anything even remotely like a "friendship," but we did seem to come to some loose terms that altered the manner in which we addressed one another in this forum. I actually defended him a few times, which in retrospect is difficult for even me to believe. I found myself writing "I disagree with virtually everything JTT writes but..."

Since no one was found worthy of JTT's demanding standards (except perhaps the young poster gracie and a few people with whom he might communicate with solely on the basis of language) and failing his test of morality resulted in insult and invective, it wasn't surprising that he soon lost any support he once may have had and any tolerance people may have felt he deserved. I've little doubt that his posts were frequently "reported" and when he began, as he did, infecting numerous threads with his rants, irrespective of the main topic or what was being written, his behavior may have appeared close enough to spamming to justify his banning.

I have no knowledge what-so-ever that he was banned, but his eventual posting behaviors were so disruptive that I think banning him could be justified. If he was banned, I very seriously doubt it was because of what he was writing.

You never know how different someone can be in and outside this forum, but I would never be interested in having a few beers with "JTT." I might agree to meet the real person, to see if his posting was truly consistent with his personality away from his keyboard. I think I could tell before the first beer was finished.

In any case I hope his absence is not due to any personal misfortune. Perhaps after an extended hiatus, he will return a changed man. Without change though I certainly can't say I look forward to his return.

If he never returns he certainly belongs, as a figure, in the "History of A2K."

Do you now?

Then you should save this smug response for yourself since it was you who first used the word "mess."

I don't mind a supercilious comment (How could I? I make them all the time), but if you're going to make them it behooves you to be careful that they don’t backfire on you. In this case you only needed to take a look at the post of yours to which I was responding. Apparently you take your persona’s sense of superiority far too seriously and simply assumed it isn't possible for you to make such an ass of yourself.

Yes, there is an ambiguity of my not liking what I myself do. However, that is my weakness. I do not think I am superior. I have met truly superior people, and accepted my lower talents. It's those that do not know their place in the scheme of things that annoy me. I have also met many people below average. I guess from their perspective I think I am superior. That is so sad that they do not know their place.

If you want to feel superior, please feel free to feel superior. It might feel even better by repeating the affirmation, "I am superior," while viewing one's countenance in a mirror. Putting one's hand into one's shirt, Napolean style, might add to the moment?

Do u think thay 'd find it emotionally painful, maybe depressing,
to be consciously aware of their inferiority ?

I doubt it, since they'll still be superior ( in many ways) to someone else. Like IQ, for instance?

In my opinion, the awareness of inferiority oftentimes results in fear. That results in hostility. In effect, many people are aware of their inferiority, and are hostile to many that seem superior.

There has been an experiment in Russia to domesticate foxes. I heard it on NPR radio. Apparently, the fearful/hostile foxes never bred, and only the foxes and their offspring that were not fearful/hostile were allowed to breed.

The result are foxes that are domesticated. And, domestication correlates to remaining like a non-mature animal. Meaning, the floppy ears of a dog represent young wolf attributes. Someday humans may domesticate themselves and become peace loving?

@Foofie,
A valiant attempt at volley, but the ball still hit the net.

I will leave it to others to draw their conclusion about the veracity of your claim that you do not consider yourself superior.
