@hawkeye10,

It is a lot like when women claim that getting so wasted on alcohol that they lose control of themselves is a right gained through feminism.

I agree. They shouldn't have that right.

But neither should men have that right; and they've been using that excuse to justify rape for centuries.

the last people I would have thought would defend the porn industry are liberal feminists.

Times are changing. Women own three of the most successful porn companies and the rocketing sales of Lesbian films has quieted the Liberal feminists.

@panzade,
How does lesbian film sales relate to feminism (not going to even try to understand what anyone means by liberal feminism) ?

@ehBeth,
I'll try and explain after we throw out the term Liberal Feminism.
The emergence of Lesbian film studios owned and run by women has reduced the cries by feminists that women are being exploited by men.
Now if women are being exploited, it's by other women.

@ehBeth,
Liberal feminists: Feminists who are politically Liberal. Like the ones who gave Bill Clinton a pass. Is that really hard to understand?

@panzade,
There is no reason to "throw out" the term Liberal Feminism, unless it is because you wish to think that all feminists must be politically Liberal.

One can be a conservative feminist or a liberal feminist. You think otherwise?

Conservatives have been made to feel unwelcome in the halls of power of feminism, and now most often refuse to self identify as feminists.

I don't know Finn. Sounds like an oxymoron.
Perhaps you can present an example of a well-known conservative feminist.

Is this your opinion?
Or did you read something to that effect?

@panzade,
My wife, although admittedly she is not well known.

Condaleeza Rice for another.

I don't know why it is necessary for me to provide you with a list of "well known conservative feminists" unless it is so that you can the proceed to make whatever specious arguments you can muster to "prove" they are not feminists.

I know plenty of conservative women who unquestionably believe that women should have identical rights and opportunities to men, and abhor any and all discrimination based on gender.

Believe it or not one is even a lesbian lawyer.

As much as Liberals might like to believe, feminism is not the possession of the Left.

yup.

I don't really see many liberals in the U.S., let alone liberal feminists.

Not sure why you're throwing anything re Bill Clinton into the mix on a conversation related to feminism.

agreed. Pretty much the entire U.S. population of feminists appears to be politically conservative (from a non-U.S. perspective of course)

Oh, wait...

on the other hand, feminism has many modes and I've never just agreed with all of it, starting with my not finishing reading Friedan back in the day since I still believed the husband obeying thing. (No kidding, I kept/keep changing, ch ch ch ch changes)

@ossobuco,
On Clinton, he was a user and so was she, from what I read back then, cheerful users together. This has happened a trillion times before, so I don't think it's a reason to kick out a president. A smack on the Hall of Fame chances, for sure.
