For some reason, the anti-abortionists always ask, what if we aborted the next Einstein. Somehow they never ask, what if we aborted the next Hitler, or the next Stalin, or the next Idi Amin, or the next Pol Pot, or the next John Wayne Gacy, or the next John Gotti, or the next Bernie Madoff, or that fat slob who lives next door and passes out drunk on your lawn after pissing on a corner of your porch. Given the relative frequencies of their occurrence, people like them are way far more likely to occur than the next Einstein.

@MontereyJack,
Speaking of the possibilities of the potential evil or saintly life cut by abortion is an interesting one, but with the possibility of so many sperms chasing the egg is the biggest gamble of all! Lottery, any one? Mr. Green 2 Cents Drunk Laughing Rolling Eyes

AGREED. The anti-abortionists are authoritarians.

Their argument lacks merit.

You people are dreamers, what about the ones who never get that chance? Did we abort the next Ghandi? The next Einstein? Seems those dreams are pretty selfish and controlling especially when applied to the defenseless.

Not much can be done about abortion. But the option is far to tempting to the irresponsible, and the Democrats will make sure it is available just like all the other entitlements.

IMO anyone that gets an abortion should be sterilized so one life is all they can take.

Perhaps you also think that every male who ever masturbated should be sterilized. One sperm could have produced another Einstein.

@JPB,
I was just reading about that. Its a shame really, but perhaps the people in those states will want to be able to sign up and work towards that happening.

@revelette2,
I'm not sure what you mean, rev. I think everyone would prefer to earn at least 11.5K per year vs 7K or 8K and qualify for premium support vs not, but the working poor are mostly concerned with food and shelter. It really comes down to a mindset on whether healthcare is a basic need or a privilege. Republican led states tend to see it as a privilege for the privileged. If not for federally mandated minimum coverage for aid to families with children there wouldn't be Medicaid at all in those states.

@JPB,
Well, personally I think that is a myth about the working poor not being concerned with health insurance. I know the working poor, they would love to have better or in most cases some insurance so they can go to the doctor when they start developing symptoms but can't do anything about it until it becomes a necessity which ends up putting them in debt...

@revelette2,
Agreed. Absolutely. I didn't understand what you meant by "working towards that happening". I assume you meant either working more so they could qualify for premium subsidies or becoming more politically active so they could convince their legislatures to expand Medicaid. Either way, the working poor that I know are generally overburdened with life and can't do either.

What in your pointed little head make you think that abortion is an entitlement? Do you even know what an entitlement is? Define 'entitlement', sparky.

That is so stupid beyond words. If your criteria is "take another human life", then sterilize cops, murderers, soldiers, doctors, bad drivers etc, too. But most of all your mother should have been sterilized as well as you, too.

@JPB,
I guess I meant, not sure now that I think about it Wink but just being more vocally supportive about "Obamacare" when in political situations or conversations such as beauty shop, believe it or not, a lot of political conversations get started in places like that. When they go to vote, they might have the conversation in their minds.

Obamacare has led to health coverage for millions more people

At least 9.5 million previously uninsured people have gotten health insurance since Obamacare started, surveys and reports show.
