Well, keep trying - and ask questions if you need to know something. After all, that's what this place is about dem Namen nach
Yes, Jack. We are here for you - even though I deserted you after my last post. Sorry! But I was in the office and had to do some work... ;-)
Hallo hihp aus Gießen! Willkommen bei A2K!

Jack Webb wrote:hihp, can't fool you. The real way to learn German, any language or anything of value is to begin by suffering. I can see right now there is just no other way to do it. I have danced around it. I have fooled myself. I'll just kick back and read myself into German.
I am certain this approach is not original. It may have even been a success for people. My guess is that more people have attempted it and the gradually gave up than those that were successful. I myself was not very enthusiastic about the approach to begin with. We'll see.
Hey there Jack. May I suggest you have a look on the BBC website and follow the path Languages/ German? There is some quite good learning material there for beginners in various languages. It's worth a try, and free of charge (I pay for you.

Alles klar bei Dir, ehBeth??????? :-)
hihp, I just figured out that your avatar is a hamster! That's a funny looking hamster!
isn't there a german verb to do with hamsters?
Yes, there is. Hamstern! Oh goodness, how do you translate that... Oh, alright, that's what people are doing in Florida at the moment. Buy all the water, all the food, all the gas they can get to store it - um all diese Sachen zu hamstern.
Is this at least a bit clear?

Er hamstered.
Sort of like stocking up/storing up in a hurried sort of way.
Filling one's cheeks with acorns before scurrying back up the tree.
Yes, that's it, ehBeth! But it's er hamstert.
As you guys speak at least a considerable amount of German, you could go to my website and check out the "Emily" section.
So, yes, she's a hamster - most definitely :-)

Danke, McTag. I thank you for the address. I utilized it and they will send me the first lesson on September 20th. I am enrolled in "About" as well. Have to watch it though. I used to fall into traps in a few courses I took. I was always seeking clearer methods and I might end up with half dozen different texts as references. It would become unmanageable, absolutely awful and I would end up in dispair, getting a poor grade. I think I should be able to handle two sources though.
hihp, auf Deiner Webseite hab ich gesehen, dass das Ding ein Hamster ist... :-)
In der Tat handelt es sich um einen Hamster. Sie würde es allerdings übel nehmen, wenn du sie als Ding - bezeichnest
(Indeed it is a hamster. She would, however, be unhappy if you called her a 'thing'.)
From your avatar I wasn't sure if this was really an animal. Now I know and apologize to her!
