This is throwing my strategy completely out of whack!

There are about 10 people within a few points of bronze medal position after the short program.

One of them is Denis Ten from Kazakhstan.

An Aussie got a silver in the women's snowboard halfpipe. It was close. So what did the pundits here want to talk about? Was the judging fair? Jesus christ. The fact we even have a team from a country that gets 3 months of decent ski snow in a good season is amazing enough. Why can't they just enjoy it. The medallist Torah Bright certainly did.

We are quite happy about Erin Hamlin getting Bronze. We consider her a local girl.

At the end of Day 6, the USA Men have a great day, sweeping the Slopestyle Skiing event. China gets two golds in long-track speed skating. Germany Men have a good day, and the Netherlands continues to perform in long-track speed skating, adding two more medals. Poland also got another gold (in Women's 10 km skiing).

As of today, the Netherlands (a Group C nation) is tied with Canada (a Group A nation) for the points lead (34). Germany Women have really made a comeback, and are tied with Russia at 29 points.

Things are starting to heat up in the standings too... Another day of competition brings us a different leader yet again: realjohnboy reclaims first place on the leaderboard by a slim margin, and tsarstepan takes over the coveted last-place position:

Elizabeth Yarnold gets gold for Great Britain in skeleton! That should help my team. Now I need some South Korean short track skaters to win tomorrow.

Denis Ten got the silver in last year's world figure skating championships.

Haven't heard much from him this year though. He's been out with an injury much of the season. (Of course, he might have recovered by now....)

Well. I'd have to say he's fully recovered. Cool

Yup, realjohnboy, that's why I still need the South Koreans to pick up the pace. You and I only differ by South Korea/China, and Wheel and I only differ by Great Britain and Belarus. Unfortunately for both of us, Belarus got two golds and a bronze today, which will give Wheel a nice-sized lead in the next standings. I need some help from the GB curling teams to catch him.

I hope the next winter games is held somewhere that it's actually cold. The skiers have been skiing in sludge.

As I see it, the US is winning handily the X Games in Sochi.
As for traditional winter olympic sports they're waaaaay behind.

At the end of Day 7, Switzerland (2 G, 1 S) and Belarus (2 G, 1 B) have great days. Great Britain gets a Gold in Skeleton, and Sweden performs well in Cross Country Skiing.

Canada reclaims its points lead (37), the Netherlands (34) are still in second, and Russia (30) is in third. Switzerland has really made a move the last couple days--they are tied with Germany Women (29) for fourth.

Yet again, we have a brand-new leader: fbaezer grabs first place on the leaderboard by a 2-point margin:

@realjohnboy,
realjohnboy, tgordon92, and anyone else who might be able to help with scoring:

I uploaded my scoring spreadsheet to Google Drive here:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BzBRzgc7V3MGOG9uUFlfX1BXV28/edit?usp=sharing

*However*, the spreadsheet has macros, so you have to download it, *and* use Excel 2010 (or newer) to run it.

The spreadsheet *should* refresh the tables automatically when you open it. Note that there are four automatic tables/worksheets: Import-Men, Import-Women, Import-Mixed, and the regular Import-Medals tables. If those sheets don't refresh by themselves, just go to the "Data" tab, then click "Refresh All".

For some reason, the refresh can sometimes takes 5-10 minutes, so just let it run until it completes.

Once it's done, you can then go to the first sheet named "Auto-Standings", to see the current scores. You'll need to highlight the "Username" and "Total" fields, then click "Sort" to sort the standings. Then you can post the results to the message board.

I *might* be able to post results Saturday and Sunday, but I'm not 100% sure. But from 2/17 - 2/21, I'll for sure need help posting the daily scores, as I won't have my computer with me. And I'm still not sure about 2/22 & 2/23.

Can someone please try downloading this spreadsheet tomorrow, and try running it?

Thanks!
wheel
