No problem. This thread is now in that stage. We can both babble...and you can continue to pretend your comment didn't go over your head.

Have you seen any good movies lately? Wink

Oh...no need for me to "pretend" that.

I HAVE a point...and more than large enough balls to confront you with it.

You really are getting desperate again, Olivier.

I'm tellin' ya...letting me know I am getting under your skin as easily as I am...is not a bright move on your part.

You oughta quit while you are behind! All you are gonna do is get behinder! Wink

Please Frank I don't think anyone on A2K wants to be confronted with your point and balls. Try a specialist website.

Keep telling yourself that crap Olivier.

This is the essence of what this thread is about and yet, Olivier, Frank can't get you to admit to what you admitted: That one nations bullying is anothers "fighting to maintain its dominion"
In fact, all you nationalities keep throwing darts at Frank's balloon and making excuses for your misadventures.

Nor should you.

Every dominant country has done things during its time at the top that sucks.

History is full of dominant factions...and for the most part, their conduct was less than exemplary. It happens.

The indignation and scorn right now toward the US on that account is what it is. For some, the US is beneath contempt.

I just wanted to put a word of balance in here.

@panzade,
Cut on the use of words like "crap", will you? I wish you guys could remain calm when discussing these things. Frank and you seem very angry, of late. Keep cool, nothing is that important here. This is just a discussion board.

In never said France bullied no one... Just because Frank and you want to make anachronistic and nationalistic comparisons of a "holier-than-you" nature, doesn't mean that I must follow suit.

What's next? A competition about which nation on earth killed and tortured the largest number of innocent people? Can you spell "obscene"?

About the thread, I would agree with the very broad-brush statement that the US tends to get an unfair amount of criticism on "bullying" from some, particularly leftists, in Europe. I personally always found anti-americanism just as stupid as any other racism, and just as stupid as pro-americanism. And I did say already that the great generation showed magnificent benevolence after WW2. But Frank’s defense of the US is one-sided and self-serving. He admitted as much.

To think that any nation under the sun has always behaved a certain particular way, good or bad, with other nations, is already racist.

Vietnam was no a show of restrain on behalf of the US, and that pretty much deals with Frank's argument. But that went over his head... Smile

Well...that one occasion was pretty bad...and has been more than thoroughly discussed here in the forum.

But apparently there was something else contributing that night of which I was unaware...and which has been corrected by some medical this and that.

The medical treatment is part of the reason why "I don't do that any more!

Goddam getting old is a bitch!!! Wink

That story, by the way...(especially the contribution of Joe Nation)...is, in my opinion, the most hilarious stuff ever written in A2K!

You write English very well but your grasp of slang is a little behind which is understandable seeing as how you don't hear it as much.

"Cut the crap" is not an angry rejoinder; it just means: "Stop kidding yourself" in Americanese.

I assure you there is no anger in my posts and I've certainly shown respect to you by complementing your posts.

Now cut the crap and stop deluding yourself by trying to differentiate between France in Viet Nam and the US in Viet Nam.

Yea, the nazis did a good job on the commies in the beginning

Its not so much that the VC were brave, as that Nixon was soft.

OVERWHELMING RE-Election! not so well for the victims of communist slavery in Vietnam.
I 'd have been a little ruffer and harsher on the commies than Nixon was,
starting by nuking the De-militarized Zone, where NO one was supposed to be.
Still, everything came out well in the end, at Christmas of 1991.

A response to Pan:

Oh but there was a big difference between France in Indo-China (no Vietnam in them there days) and the U.S. in Vietnam. France didn't carpet bomb what would become Laos and Cambodia, and France didn't have napalm and agent Orange. Those all being part of the restraint the United States displayed.
