I like Ike. He had a role in bringing in the 1960s. Here is a picture of the federal troops Einenhower called in to forcefully desegregate schools in Little Rock, Arkansas.

By every measure I know of, Ike was the best U.S.president in my lifetime.

His most major accomplishment is seen in something which DIDN'T happen, i.e. a re-ignite of WW-II in Europe on a 4000 KM front between the Western and communist blocks.

Ike even told JFK on the dias while he (JFK) was being innaugerated that the last thing he wanted to do was get the United States involved in any sort of an Asian land war.

Believe it or not, the fight in the Pacific did not involve anything you'd call an Asian land war, more like a series of island invasions to set up a platform for aerial assault and then an unholy air war.

Ike saw that the Korean conflict was going nowhere and immediately ended it upon taking office.
