Tony Martin lay in wait with the express purpose of killing someone. He was not defending himself, he was planning on killing someone. He got off lightly.

Those particular victims were in a canteen. Imagine how many cans of sprite and packets of skittles they might have bought had they not been gunned down.

I wonder how you explain the fact that guns have killed more of your fellow man in the US than any other single item. Aircraft are limited in quantity and we have made it harder to gain control of one if you aren't authorized to do so. Fertilizer is harder to get a hold of then it used to be. One instance of gasoline hardly compares to thousands of instances of guns being used.

Number of people murdered with guns in the last 20 years - over 250,000
number murdered by seized aircrafts using box cutters - less than 3,000
number murdered by fertilizer bombs - less than 300

It's pretty clear, guns are the easiest way and the most often used way to kill others.

Bearing in mind that the USA has near as dammit 5 times the UK population, a comparable number of deaths would be about 250.

You must be very proud how your nation look after the welfare of rapists.

Next if you take away the remarkable homicide rate in the poor black community fuel by drug gangs the overall homicide rate between the US and the UK is very similar.

You are just as dead being killed by any other means such as a knife then being killed by a gun.

Our murder rate is at a fifty years low by the way.

In 2010 there were 12,996 murders in the US. Of those, 8,775 were caused by firearms. But, that figure is small compared to accidental shooting deaths which brings the annual total to more than 30,000.

Guess you are thinking of suicide by firearms instead and once more the overall rate of suicide in nations with or without firearms seem similar.

You do have a slightly smaller suicide rate in the UK but France with far less firearms then the US have a greater suicide rate and Japan with almost zero firearms have a double the suicide rate of the US

As I stated the murder rate in the US is at a fifty years low and the other then the shameful murder rate of young black males in the US fuel by drug crimes our overall homicide rate is similar to your.

You did not buy any meaningful safety by banning firearms and you sure the hell did not aid anyone but rapists by banning such devices as key chain pepper spray.

The record for killing school children in the US is still held by a 1928 bombing as I stated the means of killing is kind of beside the point and those children would have been just as dead if other means then firearms had been use.
