@Gabrielle72,
You question should be phrased "Why are Americans poor at spelling and grammar?"

Why should we do that?

Language can sometimes be a good "weapon". And you're on the safe side when you know how this weapons works.

@Gabrielle72,
Touche!

Honestly, I thought the thread title was clever and you were illustrating what you meant. That's why I didn't correct you. Very Happy

I feel we get lazy. Writing and talking are separate. Btw what is this?

@neologist,
I disagree with Strunk and White on that, if indeed they were against it, as You question is fine with me, a particularly insistent start for interogitive. I assume the usage has gone on for centuries.

As in you, a particularly incandescent fool of major proportions girds his thin and weak loins to ask me this?

Surely we all understand the point the speaker is making.

@ossobuco,
Within the context of the sentence, Osso, I believe the spelling was intended to be "your question." Simple typo is all, nothing to do with Strunk & White.

@Lustig Andrei,
I think it is an imperative of sorts. Caesar probably used it. Not a typo at all.

Arguments about grammar are much like the religious threads. Ultimately, I lose interest.

"You question" is only correct if Elmer Fudd is speaking ...

I strongly suggest that you read the sentence again. I believe that Chumley, who wrote and posted it, would agree with me.
