@BillRM,
Quote:
deliberately sabotage the national security of the country

The system that I understand is in operation is itself a danger to national security in the sense that enemies can exploit it by mounting stunts to the extent that there are so many stunts that the real thing can't be separated out.

Also the stunts will send resources on expensive wild goose chases and it threatens national security to spend resources to no effect.

Obviously those operating the system know all that, it came in the titty bottle, so then it is simply a game between the two sides and claiming that the system will secure national interests amounts to a claim to be able to win the game.

It is a recruitment problem. It might be caused by the abolition of the class system.

Where have we heard that sort of thing before? It's Apisa's stock in trade stemming from the superiority of his own version of self-control.

He can't be on the wrong side in demanding a fair trial. It's such a reasonable request.

Has anybody checked his pram straps are secure in the last 5 minutes?

How did Snowden get access to such material? Was the safety of the western world balancing upon how he reacted to having information of that nature?

How would you react?

How would I react to what?

If Snowden broke any laws (and it appears he did)...he should be given the opportunity for a fair trial.

Do you disagree?

Hell yes I disagree with the very idea of government officers using laws to punish anyone for revealing that they are themselves breaking their oaths to defend the constitution.

You disagree with him getting a fair trial.

Okay...if you feel that way.

Since I have done it so often...actually quote and link to three examples.

@Frank Apisa,
You've been intellectually dishonest many times. But specifically in the case that concerns us, by couching your call for Snowden's arrest in the nice wording of "he deserves a fair trial".

The points are that 1) Snowden will NEVER get a fair trial in the US in this day and age; and 2) he doesn't deserve to be treated as a criminal but as a whistle-blower.

Those he is fighting against, and all those howling like wolves after him like yourself, they deserve a fair trial.

Olivier...please get control.

I AM INTERESTED IN HIM GETTING A FAIR TRIAL.

I suspect you do not want him to get a fair trial.

Still waiting for the lies, Olivier.

Any of them.

There certainly was no lie here.

He broke American laws...and should get a fair trial here in the United States. He can get a fair trial here...but the last thing in the world you want for him...is a fair trial. You want a trial stacked in his favor.

It appears he stole government secrets; it appears he offered stolen government secrets to people who were not authorized to have them; it appears he broke his oath to keep those secrets safe.

Only a fair trial can determine if the government can prove that he did those things.

I want him to get a fair trial.

You know very well to what. And generally pretending that you don't understand the question, implying that the questioner can't write clear English, when you simply want to evade the question and get onto the next page.

@spendius,
Here's another Apisa.

I wrote--

Quote:
I presume you can see an analogy between the NSA's keeping us all safe from the nasty world and the strong, masterful patriarchal saviour figure providing security to the innocent and feeble, clinging female of Victorian times who gets fucked in return along with the maids.

You purport to be in the debate and you didn't comment on that. And it is the essence of the argument. That the public are being fucked in return for a spurious claim that they are being protected.

Wellington is reported to have said that he didn't know whether his troops frightened the enemy but they sure as hell frightened him.

ci...you do not get to determine which laws are legal and which are illegal.

Snowdon apparently broke some U. S. laws...and it is absurd to suppose that all the laws he broke...just happen to be illegal.

In any case, SCOTUS will determine if any of the laws of the land are illegal or unConstitutional. Snowden does not get to make that determination any more than you do, ci.
