@McTag,
Ok, makes sense to me now. The brain will get a chance to pose for the imaging, of the neuro type.

@McTag,
Yep, I'm sure of it, she says adamantly. It fits the context re posing for an image... and Gary Trudeau is not likely to have a character be so word-use off as to have him say pose instead of pause as a spelling/word choice mistake.

I lack that confidence in Mr. Trudeau. For all that one might admire him, it is reasonable to assume that he is capable of error.

But that's not why i'm here. Has JTT told you people you can hold this discussion?

@JTT,

Is it more important when you write in italics?

I wrote to a national newspaper this week, I will not embarrass it by naming it here, because they published a headline "FIFA Officials Seek Bribes for World Cup Vote" or something very much to that effect.

Do you get my drift? What point was I seeking to make?

That has nothing to do with it, McTag. That signals that it was Setanta talking.

How many times have you encouraged EFLs to provide more context?

Odd, don't you think, McTag, that you've never addressed this concern to Setanta, a guy whose vitriol is widespread and legend?

@JTT,

I think I myself have been brusquely treated by the said gent in the past, although no doubt it was a misunderstanding, or I might even have deserved it.
Nonetheless it is not an edifying spectacle to see you two tearing lumps out of one another.

I'll say no more on this for now, and return to my question which hinges on the correct use of the word "bribe".
Can you ask for a "bribe " to be paid to you? I maintain you can not.

The poseur opposed to posing demurred, "surely not".

"FIFA Officials Seek Bribes for World Cup Vote"

If you pay me $___, then my vote will go to you.

But, regardless, there's no 'ask' in your headline. And people certainly can seek bribes in any number of ways.
