glitterbag... now you've got me feeling guilty about you.

I am a great supporter of women's rights and the advancement of women in the workplace - and I'm sure you are a good wife and a wonderful mother, and by no means were my comments about 'feminazis' directed at you personally.

There is a wide separate of political agenda and social ideology between the feminists on the one hand and the 'feminazis' on the other.

Some of my best friends are feminists, and when they're not holding doors open for me they're paying my restaurant bills when we go out on dates. http://www.xtrememass.com/forum//images/smilies/1214/cooleek3.gif

Am I forgiven... ? http://www.xtrememass.com/forum//images/smilies/1120/kiss.gif

Herbert, this thread is about "pet peeves in English". One of my pet peeves is the word feminazi. I think I have already explained why it is odious. I could list other words that women find revolting, but I would be censored. Lets not make this about anything other than the words. We don't know each other but the slant you have taken is eerily familiar. Shades of SB.

I will agree that some women behave in an obnoxious manner, but I think even you would agree that this behaviour is not limited to women. I don't understand how you came up with your assessment of my inner self or what kind of treatment you think I need in order (I guess) to be a person you could tolerate. But you asked if I could forgive you, and the answer is sure I can. I have to forgive you, otherwise you would be imaging groups of mannish women out to get you. I don't want you to be in torment. So let's let the matter drop. And if it's still not clear, yes, you are forgiven.....but be careful where you use that word, some women react more strongly than I did.

No one has taken up any of the half dozen points which I've made that are relevant to the topic of this thread.

Racist posturing and ad-hominem attacks are not the means by which to elicit useful responses, I submit.

Here we go again. Every time I post up something that is relevant to the topic of this thread someone has then chipped in with a comment that re-directs attention away from the issue under discussion - which is pet peeves.

Despite their righteous posturing - McTag and JTT have proven themselves to be two of the most consistent and persistent offenders in this regard - coming well within the definition of acting as a pair of trolls.

Read back through the last 3 pages and check for yourselves. Merry Andrew too has said nothing by way of contributing to the subject of this thread.

For all your righteous posturing you're just a bunch of hypocrites.

Since I'm late for a meeting, I don't have time to search for the "half-dozen" points made by herbert regarding this topic, that apparently no one has addressed. I suppose I'll have to slog thru 269 pages and see if he actually made comments on pet peeves in English usage. Did I miss something, are we supposed to be debating Englaish usage or mentioning our own pet peeves?

Ailsagirl's original intent was that people mention their own pet peeves. JTT has seen fit to declare himself the final authority on that which one has the right to be peeved about. Here, as is the case elsewhere, Herberts has shown a marvelous ability to demonstrate racism, and to offend nearly everyone who reads his drivel.

Have fun.

"Ah is gonna kick yo'....."?

What are you pretending to talk like, herberts? Family member with a defect?

Now that's funny. http://www.politicalcrossfire.com/forum/images/smiles/icon_lol.gif

We should put little leads on our pet grammatical hates and take them for walks around the park so they can have a piss and a dump before we bring them home to shampoo them and feed them from tiny tins of Word Pet Food bought at the local library... Very Happy

Don't take no personal offence, snood. Us guys who live outside of the US are exposed to an endless stream of Afro-American rap music which uses ghetto-chic jargon and Boyz in the Hood hip-hop cool-talk.

It's an export industry.

And you've got to realise that people who don't live in the US are not nearly as cautious and paranoid and hung-up about racism as you guys.

Chill out, dude! Ain't nobody tryin' to get on yo' case, man! http://www.xtrememass.com/forum//images/smilies/biggrin.gif

(I actually enjoy a lot of 'black' talk as being very 'alive' and creative and expressive - and often very humorous).

It really pisses me off to the enth degree that our TV and Radio media presenters - and the print media - nowadays refer to actresses as 'actors'.

I loathe this new practice in which the kiddies correspond with one another on forum boards by using only the lower-case of the alphabet.

Now count up the on-topic contributions by the likes of McTag, JTT, Merry Andrew, snood, Francis, et al - over the past few pages...

And yet I'm always the one being painted as the bĂȘte noire in these threads...

As I've said, we've got a few critics here who live in glass houses...
