Jesus said it first-
"The spirit within gives life,the flesh alone is worthless" (John 6:63 )

The soul is the "battery" that makes the body go, like the battery in Buzz Lightyear..Smile

@neologist,
Hmm, I sometimes forget how much I have revealed my own doctrines to you Neo. Smile

Are we a soul or do we only hold soul in our vessel?

Is soul spirit?

If soul is breath life than we are breath. Yet science says we are made mostly of water, yet, water is comprised of hydrogen and oxygen.

We breathe in oxygen and breath out carbon dioxide which also contains oxygen.

Also, hydrogen is the most rudimentary of the elements.

...and the sub atomic protons and neutrons tell us the soul is comprised of the very same substrate that rocks and air are made of.

There is this mysterious dark energy that science can only theorize about.

E=mc2

We are energy in the form of matter...

@Romeo Fabulini,
You confuse the word spirit: Hebrew, 'ruah'; Greek, 'pneumo'
with soul: Hebrew 'nephesh'; Greek, 'psyche'

Hence, your ridiculous assertion:
Romeo wrote:
When the body dies, the soul flies.
Tain't true, Romeo. And you should know it.

@neologist,
The English word "love" can mean a lot of things Neo.

It can mean the way one feels when one is shown compassion. It can mean the compassion one shows for others.

It can be the love of many things.

Such are the words for spirit and soul, they can mean many things, to such a degree that, (figuratively) heaven can come down to earth and words suddenly mean the same thing...

What is spiritual life and what are the various meanings of the word "life"?

If someone stepped on someone else's toe and said, well, I did not step on your "soul", per se, I stepped on your toe and the body is only an empty shell for your soul. Should that person's toe feel any better?

Does the soul have feelings? Can it think? If the soul is energy then either we are energy and/or need energy to exist. Rather, we are energy and we also need energy.

The whole is equal to the sum of its parts.

I've told you before mate, I don't give a rat's ass about your cockamamie Jehovah's Witness beliefs, and neither does anybody else with an ounce of common sense..Smile-

Jesus said:-"The spirit within gives life, the flesh alone is worthless" (John 6:63 )
Paul said:- "So will it be with the resurrection of the dead. The body that is sown is perishable, it is raised imperishable...it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body.. flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God" (1 Cor 15:42-50)
Paul said- "as long as we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord...and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord" (2 Cor 5:6-9)

@Romeo Fabulini,
That was not a statement of any belief, Einstein. It was simply a glimpse into the lexicon. You should try it before you take your next swan dive.

@Romeo Fabulini,
Ahh the arrogance of some people that one faith is superior to another when both have glaring flaws and both have their own unique and sacred truths..

All religions are good at teaching only the verses or stories to its followers that support their claims leaving followers to not know the true ambiguity of the bible and other holy books.

I can quote scriptures that seem to indicate both, that we are our souls/spirits, and yes, our souls/spirits are also energy and a source of power.

There is the receiving of the gift and then there is the manifestation of the gift.

Please keep religious insults to the topics and not the denominations.

"Some claim that evolution is just a theory, as if it were merely an opinion. The theory of evolution -- like the theory of gravity -- is a scientific fact. Evolution really happened. Accepting our kinship with all life on Earth is not only solid science. In my view, it’s also a soaring spiritual experience.”- Neil deGrasse Tyson ‘Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey'

This must be a rhetorical question because we should all know. We exist don't we? Of course we do.

Does a river exist? No, it is just a made up concept where water molecules collect in a channel and tumble over each other due to gravity. Rivers don't exist and neither do you because you are no different than a river. A culmination of elements coming together giving the illusion of a self. Like a mirage on a hot day or a cloud in the sky.

You are incapable of understanding a simple explanation. What level of education do you have? If I had to guess I would say not much of one. Was that insensitive? Perhaps but since you want to play these games it must be brought up. You might be too young to fully comprehend what was described to you.
