Daddy had a harbor seal
a precious possum he was
as he was a bit surreal
he got a lot of applause

Cause he made the girls dance
All night long in the ballroom
as nobody knew his stance
That's what I could assume...

Daddy's seal went missing
so we put out APB's
we found him in a cheap motel
watching "Flipper" DVD's

Daddy has a harbour seal
A grizzly cub did find
Now as it waddles out in front
You can see it’s bear behind

Daddy has a harbour seal
Worked behind the Iron Curtain
Buying elections, fixing insurrections
And contracts for Halliburton

Daddy has a harbor seal
a poet laureate.
Daddy needs to give it a good talking to,
the fame goes straight to it's head.

Daddy has a harbor seal
It broadcasts on the net
I wish its repertoire I could steal
For my very own imaginary pet

Daddy has a harbor seal
Who's moved out to LA
He's writing jokes for Leno now
And earns ten fish a day

Daddy has a harbor seal
I'm glad to see he's back.
I love to write a verse or two,
but I haven't got the knack.

Daddy has a harbor seal
sailing the wide wide sea.
He looks for tasty mussel treats
to whack, snack, and roll with glee.

This'll probably get me back to haiku, too.

Daddy had a harbor seal
It liked to swim at night
But it had quite poor night vision
And became a snack for a Great White.

Can't find him swimming anymore
Since he got hooked on Wii

Daddy has a harbor seal
That walks with Fenris
That oddly killed Odin
Then walked out with Kris

@edgarblythe,
http://sealpoet.com/

Daddy has a harbor seal
So shiny and so fat
I saw it on street named Beal
Blowing trumpet like a cat

@edgarblythe,
Just visited the site. Blogs are like signposts on lonely roads. If something of interest doesnt pop up to drive us to the blog, itll just languish there.

I really thought that Sealpoet died. Glad to see hes still out there.

Kinda can only go so far with this same schtick

@farmerman,
I post his URL now and again to give him a boost. Some years back, he sent me a self published little pamphlet style book of it. I agree with your assessment, but I still have affection for it.

@edgarblythe,
WHy doesnt he post here anymore? I always thought he had a great sense of humor. His Thurber-like drawings are also good

@farmerman,
He said his wife was jealous of the time he spent here, or something. I hope I got that right.

@edgarblythe,
That's what I understand, though I might not have used the word "jealous". She did meet us at a meet and they had us over to their house for a BBQ.

@littlek,
I always liked him, not that I knew him personally, but enjoyed his posts, enjoyed his droll seal poems, enjoyed the drawings - glad to see them again, edgarb.
