I love going to Jewish weddings (other than the ones where men have to sit separated from women Confused

).

A friend's daughter prepared "An Anthropologist's Guide to Jewish Weddings" for her first wedding - very handy - especially when the men came singing and dancing into the women's pre-wedding reception, pushing the groom ahead of them and someone had to look under the sheet covering the bride to make sure it was the right woman.

• when we moved into the house, we took some of the ivy from her bouquet, and planted it... it's still going strong, 16 years later...

• my favorite part of the reception was being lifted up in the chair...
