been watching Foyle's War quite a bit lately

And what's your assessment of it, dj?
A friend's just lent me DVDs of the first 3 seasons.
I've managed to watch only one episode so far.

@msolga,
i really like them, an interesting twist on the typical Britain at war story

@djjd62,
Yes, my friend says she's addicted.
Can't wait to get her hands on season four.
But going by the first program I saw, I hope most of the plot resolutions aren't of the "everything explained in the last few minutes" variety.
I love the period "feel", though.
Veddy British! Smile

@msolga,
interesting, i guess i haven't really paid attention to the "everything explained in the last few minutes"

so far i haven't found the resolutions to be implausible, which is a good thing

Well, as I say, I've seen only one episode so far, dj.
So we shall see.

@djjd62,
I love British tv, too.
Oh & the Brits, too! Wink

Really, it's way too early in the piece for me to be considering Foyle flawed.

I keep meaning to watch Miss Fisher & seem to find myself doing other things when it's on.
Might do a bit of catching up on the ABC's "repeats" site.

@msolga,
MFM is played more for laughs than drama in my opinion, but it's been fun so far

when watching brit tv i like to play the "where have seen this person before" game, a little tougher with Aussie tv since most of my references are near 30 years old (ACP, TFD), but Robert Grubb from TFD showed up in an episode

@msolga,
Just like the song, it's hard to be humble when you're perfect in everyway.

I like you Ozzies as well, although there's a couple that are just beginning to get on my wick. They advertise Fosters Gold. It's just been shown a bit too much.

@djjd62,
Cowell's just had his house broken into by a deranged fan. I suppose a fan of Cowell's couldn't be anything else.

@djjd62,
I had to Google to find out who they were, Izzy.
Crikey, I haven't watched Coronation Street for years!

So tell me, what is absolutely essential viewing in the UK this year?

The last mini series I saw was about the BBC & spies, and set in the 1950s.

@msolga,
The last thing I enjoyed was Dirk Gently. The Bleak Old Shop Of Stuff was very good as well.

I don't really like Costume Dramas though, so I've never watched Downton Abbey.

@izzythepush,
Thanks.
I'll check those out.
Not too much great drama on television at the moment, not that I'm aware of, anyway.
