The Scribes, the Elders and Jewish teachers of the Law were Jesus' enemies. They were the ones constantly trying to find fault with what Jesus and His disciples did. They were religious- they abandoned God's Laws in exchange for their own. They were hypocrites because they weren't even keeping THEIR laws and they resented Jesus because HE called them out about it and told them the truth.
The PHARISEES were the same people who went around with the Scribes, Elders and teachers and did this.
