How was Amsterdam? I'm suppose to go to the Florida keys for a week during Labor day week but a hurricane is suppose to hit there soon so I am not sure how that will work out.

@reasoning logic,
It was very good, but the cyclists are a bit of a pain in the arse, did a lot of people watching, and research, loads of stags and hens going on.

It's my favourite city, but I couldn't live there.

I am glad to hear you had a good time.

The cyclists are not so bad where I live but I fear for their safety as they ride in lanes 3 feet from traffic that is traveling 60 MPH at times.

@izzythepush,
I used to love cycling around the Dam with the moth sitting side saddle on the back, like so.

I'll never forget the time I got a bit too close to a parked car, I looked over my right shoulder to see if she was ok and thought at first she'd fallen off but hadn't she clipped the car and spun around to the other side, man it was funny at the time but then again I was probably stoned.

@eurocelticyankee,
I stuck to the trams, it was bad enough with my mate, he has absolutely no sense of direction whatsoever, I'm amazed he actually found his way back to the hotel each day.

I tried Barney's Liberty Melt, I've never come across anything like that before.

@spendius,
That's not all I missed, my mate kept ordering tea instead of coffee, and there's a complete absence of cheddar, but you can get BBC1 and 2.

I did find a wonderful pastry shop.

I concur with ECY's ejaculation.

@izzythepush,
Anyone can concur with the remark in relation to any city, or lesser collection of building materials, in order to rationalise wasting their time and money in it.

My information says that the attraction of Amsterdam is entirely associated with drugs and whores. There is not a lot one can do with pastry. "Once eaten soon forgeetan." Or canals.

Riga is the in place I'm told. Velly cheap, velly clean.

@spendius,
The Dutch are very friendly and welcoming, particularly towards the British and Irish. It would be worth a trip just for that.

You're an old stick in the mud anyway, I wouldn't expect you to get excited about anything that wasn't an eccles cake.

Well, Mr Spades been awall for quite some time...

I am sure eventually he shall return, perhaps he is sick of getting angry? He could even return as a witch Wink

In any event, now I DON'T GET TO SPEAK TO YA'S in any way shape or form except for Spendi who keeps telling me off for some silly reason.

SOOOO .. Is there a new discussion to be had?

I'm game.. Be gentle on the discussion.

@FOUND SOUL,
I can think of a few, but all would lead to fighting, and I'm feeling a bit too mellow for that right now.

I'm sure Spades is fine, he'll come back with stories about where he's been and what he's done.

@reasoning logic,
It's not just Spendi. I don't normally post the Mail as a source, but that's who Michael Johnson gave the interview to.

Quote:
Olympic legend Michael Johnson says a ‘superior athletic gene’ in the descendants of West African slaves means black American and Caribbean sprinters will command the sport at the London Games.
The Olympic gold medallist and BBC commentator said: ‘Over the last few years, athletes of Afro- Caribbean and Afro-American descent have dominated athletics finals.
‘It’s a fact that hasn’t been discussed openly before. It’s a taboo subject in the States but it is what it is. Why shouldn’t we discuss it?’
Reigning Olympic 100m champion Usain Bolt was born in Trelawny Parish, Jamaica, where British Olympic boss Lord Coe’s plantation-owning ancestor George Hyde Park had 297 slaves.
Of the eight 100m finalists four years ago, three were Jamaicans, two came from Trinidad and Tobago, two were Afro-American and one, representing the Netherlands, was born on the Dutch Caribbean island of Curacao. All eight are believed to be descended from slaves.
Johnson says: ‘It is currently being researched to see how much of a factor being descended from slaves contributes to athletic ability.’
Some scientists believe a combination of selective breeding by slave owners and appalling conditions meant that only the strongest slaves endured, creating a group predisposed to record-breaking athletic performance.
African slaves underwent a rigorous selection process and only the fittest were transported on ships.
Interestingly, the toughest journey was to Jamaica, the last stop on the slave trail.
During one voyage in 1732, a staggering 96 per cent of slaves lost their lives – 170 boarded the ship and only six got off.
Jamaican geneticist Dr Rachael Irving said: ‘There was not much oxygen on slave ships so they had to use whatever they had to survive.’
Dr Herb Elliott, doctor to the Jamaican Olympic team, added: ‘Only the most aggressive and fiercest slaves ended up in Jamaica.’
Johnson, 44, had a DNA test for a Channel 4 documentary, Michael Johnson: Survival Of The Fastest, to be screened on Thursday night, which confirmed he is of West African descent.
He said: ‘All my life I believed I became an athlete through my own determination, but it’s impossible to think that being descended from slaves hasn’t left an imprint through the generations.
‘Difficult as it was to hear, slavery has benefited descendants like me – I believe there is a superior athletic gene in us.’

You're a liar rl. As well as a bushwhacking coward.

I did not say slavery was a good thing and you know that I didn't.

I said I didn't know and invited you to answer your silly question yourself. It is a simple fact that from a Darwinian perspective it has to be a good thing for the reason I gave.

Who to reply too, who to reply too Smile

Offering money to move somewhere else, get out of here, we want to control who breeds here, that's how I read it.

I would have stayed too out of principal.

No doubt, they had to be fighters.. Whether that then remains in ones genes?

I think a child knowing his / decendends past can feel it, breathe it and perhaps feel very strong about it and consequently have a desire to win more so than an average person growing up with no history of having to survive.
