Question to those who do or do not doubt Christianity

I respect both of your view points but what I trust the most is logical explanations. I am sorry but that is the skeptic in me.

If I were to think that I am Jesus I would rather you be skeptical and question my belief and find the most logical answer that might explain my belief.

Just because I am honest does not mean my mind could not have issues in other areas of thought.

Like I said you are a naive realist! How do I know? Because it takes one to know one.

Why has he not healed anyone? I can heal someone's heart, I did, my fiance... People can heal hearts and that is all he is doing.

I agree with that. But there is a reason to debate the social consequences of the beliefs of all sides and attempt to come to some conclusions about which is the more useful to society. Beliefs are reduced to pointlessness if no consequences are stemming from them and any debate about them is of a similar nature to chess or a word game and becomes nothing but entertainment in the passing moment.

The two main parties, as with political parties, are coalitions and their power of persuasion is severely damaged if they do not speak with something akin to one voice and with a line agreed in their internal discussions. The atheists have their organisations to present an agreed line and the dividing of the Christian line into sects, cults and individual, improvised demagoguery can only result in the atheist position taking on what it is not unjustified to call a rabble and thus winning the argument and bringing on the inevitable consequences of so doing. Such consequences atheists are seemingly not prepared to discuss and that it the central weakness of their position. Communist governments have been prepared to not only to discuss those consequences but to bring them into action.

An individual in England murdered a number of prostitutes because, he claimed, God was speaking to him and telling him to undertake the mission. Others have claimed that the world is to come to an end on a certain day.

One supposes that those hearing messages from God could embrace every position known to mankind and possibly some not yet known.

I often refer to fm's statements being silly not because of the position he takes but because of the a priorism of his presentation. It is silly to arrive at a conclusion based upon the premiss he starts with. For me to declare that the position of either side is silly would be ridiculous. To say that the arguments used to promote the positions are silly is an entirely different matter.

To promote atheism with out references to consequences is silly just as to promote individual messages from God without reference to consequences is as well.

When you use the word "wrong" you are guilty of a priorism. The Church has spent hundreds of years working out what is right and wrong in terms of the promotion of the Christian project and the result is what we have. People popping up all over the place disagreeing with selected aspects of the Church's carefully worked out theology are a source of confusion and thus a force for defeat of the project.

That is why I don't consider you a Christian. You are an opportunist. You should submit yourself to the discipline of the Church and debate your issues with its theologians rather than presenting them in such a way that all the factors involved are not being considered.

I consider any promotion of a position without any reference to the consequences of it being widely accepted is wrong. If we all accepted that you are hearing messages from God I feel quite sure that appointing you president for life by acclamation would follow automatically assuming you have no rivals also claiming to be the privileged party to the Divine Wisdom. Which is unlikely to be the case as charismatic mystics emerged all over the place who had no further need for fund raising or debating chambers.

Every person who does not believe in the existence of God can only think that you are hearing messages from yourself.

They may well not be stupid but it is self-evident that they think we are.

Why would the reappearance on earth of Jesus and Mary Magdalene have been delayed all this time and then suddenly occur in the USA of all places in a particular educational and class setting and where such claims are not subject to government repression, as was Jesus, and which provides a fertile ground for such claims.

The USA represents about 3 or 4% of the world's population now and less that 1% of the population of that of the last 2,000 years. If the class and educational segment of the population is taken into account the figures are much smaller.

I think this dramatic event has been caused by the invention of U Tube and the increasingly dangerous aspiration to shove fissogs into the public arena.

I am even-handed about both Christians and atheists not doing that. They are both copping out and have nothing to say that is worth taking any notice of unless they do answer the points. To take a selected series of movies in which a chicken appears and deduce from it that there is a religion permeating the movie industry dedicated to the worship of the chicken is ridiculous considering how many movies there are and the ubiquitous nature of the chicken in our society. It might be done with ashtrays. Or with a more mystical twist cigarette lighters. Or Lingerie.

Which, of course, does not mean that a religion dedicated to the worship of the chicken has no validity. It may have become necessary in a society dedicated to the eagle and general all round admiration of successful preying and plundering using force and/or fraud. It just happens, and the lions and tigers are looking to be close to extinction whereas pond life is at it unhindered, inconvenienced at times, by human behaviour. They had to nurse a pair of eagles here through their meeting, mating, confinement and nurturing phase in order to bring the buggers back into our wildlife for some reason or other which could be used to make waves and get on television. There was an armed guard I believe. That's intensive care imo. And the sparrows are hopping about all over the place, not as many as there used to be, chasing and shagging and chattering.

The Eagle is only the epitome of progress to people who see themselves in a similar light. Such as that class of robber-barons to which Mr Charles Darwin belonged did.
