thats a big SO WHAT? Church relted colleges were also the mainstays of segregation, Creationism, etcetc until external circumstaces straightened most of em out.
Now you will find that most chirch affiliated colleges and U's will teach mainstream science as if they never had their own policies of "Special Creation" or a " 6000 year old earth"

It wasnt until the mid 1930's when public schools even had the temerity to defy their church related foundings.
So dont Brag about how the church had a hand in modernism. You sound like youre preaching spendis mantra.

Not sure I exactly agree with it all...But I appreciate the answer anyways!!

All I want to say is if the Church had a hand in modernism, it can not be such an evil thing like many portray....Christians starting 70 of every 100 Universities in the US, had a Big hand in the embracing of science, given that most embraced Christianity....Like it or not!
