@Baldimo,
He had one of the most united countries of all time behind him immediately after Sept 11.

Why can't Teapublicans show the same support. Hell, you guys are getting what you want, more war!

Yes, Presidents have the power to **** up wars by not letting the military experts run the wars. It is also the wrong thing to do.

Korea
Vietnam
Iraq
Afghanistan

25 years at war, over 90,000 US troops killed in wars that did not meet the objective mainly due to civilian controllers ******* it up.

@hawkeye10,
Whaaaa......? When and how? Why is everybody talking about salutes and umbrellas if that's so true. Name some active duty Senior Generals who feel ignored.

It doesn't have to be a long war. Those people can be dispatched quickly. And hopefully with the same mercy they granted their victims.

Nobody wants war, and your comment shows me that you know nothing about the military.
Only those that have seen war, want no more of it.

And since Obama is sending air power in, doesnt that mean that he wants more war also?
After all, he is the CIC and he makes the decisions.

@Baldimo,
Seriously. The military is a sausage factory and we should leave the sausage makers at it, right? The military is a tool of policy and needs to be overseen by the President and Congress. Turn them loose? Fat chance. Oversight certainly didn't interfere with bringing WWII and Viet Nam to a conclusion. The lack of a free press following what we are doing in the Levant is crime.

@coldjoint,
The President is giving you your little war. What's your beef? Besides umbrellas and latte salutes.

Cameron told his Parliament yesterday that they should "make no mistake, this will not last weeks or months but will take years."

Bullshit. I am ex-military, my family is ex-military, my wife is retired CIA and helped plan Viet Nam war targets, came from a military family, her father was Lt Col who came up from the ranks and fought in WWII and Korea and our son served in Iraq including 11 months of stop loss. I have a lot of insight about the military, and in fact your last comment agrees with me and my bitch that the biggest war drums in Washington are being beaten by those who found it inconvenient to serve and you try smear me by suggesting I'm not military.

Shame on you.

Vietnam is where the generals lied their ass off about body count in order to make themselves look good. I am satisfied to have a civilian head of the military because I dont want us to be like middle and south america where the generals run everything.

@mysteryman,
Bullshyt. The only time the military officers can move up in rank is during wartime. You cant be stupid enough to believe that if the generals could forment more war so they could move up in rank they wouldent do so.

Yeah, sure. That's what Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld told us again and again about Iraq. It'll be over in months and cost fifty billion tops and probably not even that, and it'll probably even be self-financing from increased oil revenues. Remember? Somehow their rosy predictions seem to have been swept under the rug. Five thousand American lives lost. Closing in on three trillion dollars, paid for by mortgaging us to China, And AlQaeda in Iraq, which Bush couldn't eradicate, mutating into ISIS and getting a lot of support from the Sunni minority which Bush's puppet sectarian government stomped on. It won't be quick and it'll cost like hell, and you guys'll bitch at every dollar spent and try to gouge it out of those who can least afford it, while the top one percent just buys another yacht.

And what both the Soviet brain trust and the American brain trust said about Afghanistan.

ISIS has been extremely competent at military/communication/governing. Obama and his generals can not say the same about America. That is a big ******* problem!
