The “Hate Crime Reporting Act of 2014” presents a frankly chilling proposition. The spookily-named National Telecommunications and Information Administration (what, you’ve never heard of it?) would be required to submit a report to Congress on “the use of telecommunications” “to advocate and encourage violent acts and the commission of crimes of hate.”

Using its own judgment to determine what qualifies as impermissible speech, the new government hall monitors would then recommend steps for Congress to take that are “appropriate and necessary to address such use of telecommunications.”

We aren’t talking about actual physical threats; there are already laws against those. This bill apparently aims to impose university-style speech codes on the Internet and talk radio. Evidently Markey & Co. are attempting to criminalize speech that any Muslim, homosexual, or black decides to find offensive.

Does the Federal government have problems? Yes. Does every part of society have problems? Yes. You don't solve problems by acting like a **** for brains no nothing which is all you seem capable of. You solve problems by realistically defining the problems. When all you do is present "facts" that aren't facts, Pinkie, you aren't solving anything. You ARE the problem.

Reality Is Crushing the Obama Presidency

Mr. Obama’s failures are piling up one after another, in foreign policy and on the domestic side, to the point that they are now well beyond dispute. Blaming his predecessor became passé a couple of years ago. Blaming Republicans for his foreign-policy failures, and the failures of the Affordable Care Act, is absurd. And so the best the president and his allies can do at this stage is to (a) invert reality (for example, explaining that Russia’s aggression and our timidity are evidence of its weakness and our strength) and/or (b) explain away each failure as the fault not of themselves but of the stars.

That won’t be nearly enough. At some point the excuses grow tiresome and unconvincing, and the bill comes due.

We are at that stage in the Obama presidency. Reality is crushing his presidency. And there’s nothing America’s most famous former community organizer seems able to do about it.

This is not an easy time for anyone who reveres this nation.
