This would be a great one to start with.

@gungasnake,
She's not an Obamabot or whatever, gunga, pan, cj, Parados, ... . She is a bright young American who is saying the same thing I have been saying for a good long time!

Instead of acknowledging reality, you keep on solid in the delusion that a change of government will fix things. That's simply not possible. The USA system is corrupt thru and thru.

You know this when each of your prezes since, well since the get go have been war criminals and terrorists. Under every prez people are slaughtered to feed the usa's rapacious greed. There is, has been a constant stream of platitudes that don't come anywhere near to approaching the actual reality of what the USA is, a corrupt, venal, vicious country.

Strong words, you think, well just consider the reality.

Well, if she flew commercial we would have to pay for two seats anyway. One for her and one for her ass. http://www.acidpulse.net/images/smilies/rofl1.gif

These extravagances coupled with the kind of arrogance and pomp that is most often seen in 18th-century French monarchs comes at a time when the Obama Administration lectures the American people ad nauseum on the need to remedy supposed income inequality by forcing the well-off to pay more in taxes and wages. While the rich are vilified by this administration, the Obamas operate as if the American taxpayers are one bottomless source of money with which to play.

@coldjoint,
I'm not a liberal, and our country pays more per capita in overseas aid than yours. Funded by our tax system, more than yours, so I don't feel guilty at all. Even if I never put a penny in a collecting tin, I still give more than you.

Btw, talking about how much one gives to charity is vulgar and crass. It's something only arseholes bring up in conversation.

@izzythepush,
Complaining that someone isn't paying enough in taxes is ok though?

@Baldimo,
Of course it is. If we all paid enough taxes we wouldn't need charity. It allows people to set up their own pet projects, make value judgements between deserving and undeserving poor. There should be no such distinction, poor is poor.

JP Priestly hit the nail on the head when he wrote An Inspector Calls. There's a very good reason why the cruellest, most nasty person in the play, Sybil Birling is the head of the local charity. Charity has nothing to do with helping people, it's all about rich people evading their social responsibility and imposing their perverse values upon society.

The only down side would be that it would cost us many times as much to accomplish whatever the goal was, particularly in the case of religious charities. Churches spend money many times more efficiently and effectively than governments do.

@izzythepush,
I'll say it again... We have children in Texas who eat only via the activities of churches and when at school. Money from government programs including food stamps gets spent on drugs and these kids lives proceed exactly as if such government programs did not exist. Churches often give these kids packets of food on Friday afternoons with instructions to hide them from their parents, so they can eat over the weekends. The only people benefiting from the govt. programs are drug dealers and criminals.

@gungasnake,
Your focus is, as always, too narrow, gunga. That bright young American, why can't there be more of you, the 'bright' part I mean, was describing how Obama has become a george bush, replete with all the evil found within his being.

Y'all go on and on bitching and moaning about either Dems or Repugs but the truth is that they are one and the same - evil to the core. And y'all continue to embrace the evil whatever its name.

How much am I expected to pay? With my last promotion and pay raise, I was placed in the 25% tax bracket. How much is enough?

@Baldimo,
25% is quite low. That's our starting bracket. The NHS doesn't come cheap you know. Rich people have a 40% bracket. You'd have more disposable income if you didn't have to pay medical insurance.

Have you read/seen An Inspector Calls?

Having said that Mitt Romney doesn't pay as much as 25%. Maybe you should lobby that he pays less, and you can pay to use the roads, and schools.

@JTT,
I do make good money, but I'm also paying more in taxes and I'm not happy about it. My tax return this year is going to be smaller, if I get one, and that isn't cool either.

You should be, not just not happy, B, you should be raging mad. Your governments take your dollars to commit war crimes, terrorism and theft against people much much poorer than you just to fill the pockets of greedy fucks.

And they don't even bother to give you tubes of KY Kelly.

25% is low? I make less then 100K per year, and a 25% tax bracket means I paying about 19,000 a year in taxes. Does that really seem fair to you?

I'm going to guess a yes. People such as yourself don't like that some people do well. It has nothing to do with helping people, it has to do with taking from those who do well and giving to those who don't do well.
