Secret abortion fees hidden in Obamacare premiums

Quote:
The president promised when the health care bill passed that it would not cover abortion. We knew that was an empty promise as the bill stipulated a $1 a month surcharge for plans that covered abortions,” said Rep. Joe Pitts, R-Pa., who chairs the House’s Energy and Commerce subcommittee on Health. “On top of that … it’s near impossible to decipher which plans include abortion and at what cost!”

Is this congressman a liar or is it just Obama? Again. And again, and again.

Look at that. Now Obama supporters are a minority. Now they can play the victim card with the race card.

@coldjoint,
It seems you have lost your senses. Let me repeat. Obamacare isn't going away during your lifetime. The simple math of politics and the US Constitution make it so.

The next 2 years require a Presidential signature that isn't going to happen. Obama will veto any bill that attempts to eliminate Obamacare.

After that, the GOP will have to elect a President which isn't likely with the changing political makeup of the US. The increase in minorities means that the map for electing a GOP President will become less likely without major changes to the GOP's platform.

Even if the President is GOP it will still mean that the Senate will require 60 votes to pass the cloture rule. The likelihood of the GOP having 60 votes in the Senate in the next 6 years is almost impossible. It isn't even a given the GOP can get 50 seats in the Senate. They may have 49 in 2014, but that is if things go completely their way. Then in 2016 they have to defend more seats than Dems so risk losing more. In 2018 or 2020, Texas may have gone blue. By 2022 the House districts will be realigned and the GOP faces even more problems as people demand more competitive districts and courts are moving that way too.

I think it's more likely that by 2020 every state will allow gay marriage and we will still have Obamacare.

@coldjoint,
The Congressman is a moron.The bill specifically states no government money can be used for abortion.

The law also states that any state can pass laws to prohibit abortion coverage in state run exchanges. It seems you can blame Texas for any abortion coverage in Texas. The same for any other state that refused to set up its own exchange.

I find it amusing and fascinating to see so many who have bought into the GOP message about "ObamaCare will destroy our freedoms." All developed countries have universal health care; ALL! It certainly didn't destroy their freedom. Even some third world countries have them - including Cuba. Beyond that, the GOP messages of fear and destruction has never happened. Some people only know how to parrot what they learn from GOP ranters.

Makes one wonder when they became parrots rather than thinking humans.

@coldjoint,
The President may have a pen, but he can only SIGN legislation that is passed by Congress. The only way to repeal Obamacare is for Congress to pass a law doing so and the President sign it or Congress overturn a veto. None of those are likely.

Quote:
(2) Prohibition on the use of Federal funds
(A) In general
If a qualified health plan provides coverage of services described in paragraph (1)(B)(i), the issuer of the plan shall not use any amount attributable to any of the following for purposes of paying for such services:
(i) The credit under section 36B of title 26 (and the amount (if any) of the advance payment of the credit under section 18082 of this title).
(ii) Any cost-sharing reduction under section 18071 of this title (and the amount (if any) of the advance payment of the reduction under section 18082 of this title).

Care to provide your copy where it says government funds will be used for abortions in violation of the prohibition?

It's not about being a follower, dummy! It's about providing our citizens the right to health care. We already spend the most for health care, and not cover everybody. That's the idiocy of people like you who doesn't understand economics or the rights to health care.

Healthy people make better citizens for EVERYBODY!

@coldjoint,
We spend the most for healthcare that didn't cover all citizens. Now it does.
That you care not for anybody else's good health is more telling about you than the program.

People should not go bankrupt based on their inability to pay health care costs.

Health care, like good education and infrastructure, should be part and parcel of living in the richest country in the world.

Our government has taken responsibility for disease control, to make sure our drugs, foods, and water are safe. That's all part of good governance; to protect its peoples health.

Your narrow brain needs to seek more humility for other humans.

BTW, that's more important than spending billions on our defense department; we need to stop being the world's police. Our citizens health is more important, since we're the ones footing the bill.
