How can the media profit from them if nobody wishes to see them? Once again ff you show your propensity towards the form rather than the substance. It's very anti-intellectual you know.

It is the substance of the institution which provides President Obama with his aura and not himself.

Yes--and all the appropriate persons will be notified, possibly for a fee, when this event is to take place, and where, and the police officers will perform their duties in the manner expected of them by the public. And, of course, their Moms and Dads, other relations, and friends. A manner associated with that of conducting a wild animal from one zoo to another.

Do you think they draw lots for the privilege?
It is amazing that Americans thought that the photo shoots at Abu Ghraib were an aberration in American behavior....

@spendius,
There is a current movie called The Lincoln Lawyer based on a book by Michael Connelly.

The protagonist, Mickey Haller is a defense attorney who makes money every time he tips off his favorite photographer as to when an arrested man will be moved from the courthouse to the jail.
So you're pretty close on that point spendi.

So, are you blaming her for her own assault?

Not unless she cast some magical powder in his direction which was provided by the medicine man in Guinea. Some women have the power unaided and thus cannot be faulted. I cannot blame a highly attenuated form of evolved hormonal activations colliding in space because they are nobody's fault.

In the Islamic world such collisions are avoided at great economic cost.

An everyone get prose for pictures before a mob of video cameras like you would prose some game animal you had just shoot I assume.

Anyone who is of any interest to the media will get their picture taken--in handcuffs, with police holding their arm.

I know two people who were arrested, neither of them were well known, but both were the sort of highly educated white men who don't often get arrested for the kind of crimes they were charged with--so that made it newsworthy. Both were shown on the evening news in handcuffs being put in the back of a police car.

Those people weren't posed for the media--the media just showed up. There are reporters who cover police beats or who listen to police scanners so they know where to show up. The media waiting for DSK had been there for hours--they knew that eventually the police would have to move him back to his housing location.

They were also outside of the location of the Grand Jury to get pics of the alleged victim. Did they? Why not?

Spendius there was a Star Trek episode where a mountain herbs woman blow a powder into Kirk face that drove him wild with lust.

If such a powder exist that could drive a 62 years old banker into such a lust driven state right out of a shower women would be bidding fortunes to get their hands on it.

The police stop and prosed for the pictures with DSK in handcuffs and is that not strange thing to do instead of just moving the prisoner if they was not going out of their way to do a perp walk.

So once more you are being so dishonest you are being silly.

The feminists claim that they have no issues with lust/passion, but when you look at their theory and their law making clearly they do. The demand for a high level demonstration of consent, vocal and defined, shows for instance how they demand that matters traditionally considered of the heart must be fully embraced by the head in order to stay clear of state punitive measures. The feminists are the ultimate legalists, they care nothing for the health of and exploration of the erotic arts, for them the dance of eros and Psyche is a threat to the order that they wish to impose. The feminists remind me a lot of Stalinism and Nazism, the goals are different, but the methods used to impose their will upon the rest of us are the same.

My wife came back from Iraq this last time with heavy duty PTSD, so she now spends a lot of time on the couch watching TV. Often she has those trashy reality TV shows on. Looking at one such today it occurs to me that we can see clearly how America is becoming swamped in victim culture. Pay attention to how often the underdogs now come up with tears or a hard luck story in the attempt to gain power for themselves. Americans know very well which power plays work these days, and as is human nature they can be counted on to go with them again and again.

So, by your logic, if you walk down the street wearing an expensive Rolex watch, and you get held up or mugged for the watch, the criminal act is your fault, because you had a desirable object right?

There is a legal opinion to that effect. It is not a defence but it might result in a slightly lesser sentence. These things are not black and white. You can't pose a caricatured scene like that. Flagrant display of the watch is an aggressive act. A bloke I knew swapped his Rolls Royce motor for an old banger because people gouged the side panels on pub car parks regularly.

It is the display rather than the having. Why do you think judges are allowed a range of sentencing if not so that they might allow some mitigations?

It isn't my logic.

I don't need a movie to know about such an obvious procedure. They should make a movie about it not operating. That would be interesting. Like The Untouchables. Oh yeah!!

Those not receiving the tip off have no pics for their show. That soon makes them all stand in line.

Writing a book about that is like writing a book about paint drying.

PC culture could have never stayed in force this long without a strong desire to stay ignorant. I also dont think that science would have ever been allowed to be corrupted were this not so. Our habit of deciding the result first and then building a plausible sciency sounding case for it is on evidence everywhere. This is NOT how people who want to know, and to build a better world for their kids, behave.

Ignorant is not the word hawk. It means not knowing. In actual fact they would need to go on a fifty five thousand year long intensive course of instruction to get them back to that state.

"to know" is normally to be aware of consciously....what we see is a people who know subconsciously or at a low level of consciousness, and push it way. They put a lot of energy into not being confronted with what they do not want to know. Understandable when the civilization is crumbing around them, but they could at least have enough self awareness to know of what they do. A bunch of experts claim that people tend to let in the amount of truth that they can deal with, but I am no longer that optimistic. I think that we have created a couple of generations of perpetual children.....Micheal Jackson is their inspiration.

That stuff floats out of bakery shop doorways and is particularly powerful on cold days around lunchtime.
