@jcboy,
That's a lot of work, jcboy, but it sure looks nice.

I don't have crown molding but some wood stripes installed (the painters did that) because my ceiling is so high, it breaks it down a bit, but I think they glued everything down. It's still holding up after about 8 years, so whatever glue they used, it's good.

@CalamityJane,
Oh it is!

When I first moved here I’d find dozens of guys to do the work but most flaked out and wouldn’t show up or didn’t seem to know what they were talking about most of the time so I watched youtube videos and read a few books and started doing it myself.

But you’re right, it is hard work but I kind of enjoy it. The room is a mess and will be that way for another week at least and then when its all done I can admire it, until we move LOL.

Hehe, of course when you work hard, it get's messy Wink

jcboy, that's smart and a lot cheaper doing it yourself.
When my Miele washer needed some work, the repairman came and told
me - without even touching the machine, that wit would cost $ 650 to repair.
Needless to say, I wished him well but no thank you!

@CalamityJane,
When he bought the house he hired a guy to build the columns in the front. We just recently found out the contractor didn’t get a permit for them first. In this city you need a permit for just about everything.

Morgan had to get a permit to have the hurricane windows installed.

The city could tell him to remove them if they wanted to get nasty about it.

@MMarciano,
You see, you can't trust contractors!!
Here at the beach, where real estate is at its prime, they even convert garages without any permits. If the owner wants to sell then they have a rude awakening...

@CalamityJane,
I don't mind that crown molding, relatively tame and not freaky re the house. I know from crown molding.

What is that pebbly ceiling doing there?

(I know, bitch)

@MMarciano,
I told him he needs a short wall (the street drainage is abysmal, another subject), but that would involve moving the hedge back. In a lot of cities, 42 inches is max at the property line. Some of them act on it.

My reaction, too. People here hate popcorn ceilings. (Maybe it's different in Florida?)

@the prince,
Oh, right. I guess there's no point in my asking when you're coming by to work on my house then. (Like me, you'd probably just laugh.)

@ossobuco,
Popcorn ceilings are okay in California? Well, it doesn't matter...he's in Florida now. I'm just curious. I know people who have refused to buy houses because of these ceilings. Once they're painted, the stuff can be hell to remove.
