Yes. I absolutely fell in love with Timorous Beasties' wallpaper ~ five years ago.

A bit much, not sure I'd do more than a wall with it -- but I really love the combination of classic and weird.

Just today I was looking at Amy Butler's wallpaper:

Good Lord.
All of that is hideous.

@chai2,
Heh. It's definitely not for everyone, and by the way I do completely agree with ehBeth re: resale/ renting. Keeping things nice and neutral is the way to go there, and those wallpapers are not nice and neutral.

The embossed wallpapers she posted could definitely work, though.

I was just kind of riffing on wallpaper in general. We plan to stay here a good long time (knock on wood), and while I haven't found any wallpaper I'd actually use, yet (for reasons of either style or cost), but I've enjoyed looking around a bit.

@chai2,
That's the problem with wallpaper in general - one likes the pattern and the other finds it hideous. As I said, it would be a definite turn-off to buy a house unless the price reflects the cost of removing it.

@CalamityJane,
I’m currently working on texturing the wall. I will paint it next weekend.

I’ve gotten quite a bit done today. I like the way the walls look when textured, will look even better after their painted.

All walls have been textured. The crown molding and baseboards are painted and now I’m starting on painting the walls, I chose a color called Stone wash. It’s a light color, kind of hard to tell from the photo though. Then I will put in a new ceiling fan and refinish the floors and I’ll be done with the house once and for all.

I like that corner touch with the molding. I have put molding in a number of rooms, but did not know about that, else I would have used it.

@edgarblythe,
He spends at least ten hours a week at HomeDepot or Lowe's, they know him by name. Some actually call him the Jewish Princess Laughing

@MMarciano,
Chihuahua.

Do you have any real old fashioned lumber yards anywhere in your area?

I suppose not.

@ossobuco,
There are a few still around but you have to drive a ways to find one, and they don't have the selection or prices like say Lowe's.

Morgan I think that room will look beautiful when you're done.

@edgarblythe,
I hadn’t either Edgar, I was searching online getting different ideas and came across them, then found them at Lowe’s. I put them in the corners and in the middle of the room I found these, I thought they looked nice so I bought a few.

I’ll be finishing with the painting today!

@edgarblythe,
And the Florida room is painted! It’s called Stone Wash. Light color and hard to tell from the photo’s, but it looks nice with the white trim.

Next weekend I’ll refinish the hardwood floors.

Now whoever moves in here can enjoy it.

@Rockhead,
Yeah - I was lucky, there was a really good old fashioned mill yard where I last lived. I wonder if they're still kicking.

Even back in LA, there was a sharp lumber yard - guys who knew what they were talking about - within a few miles. . . . until it went out of business with the advent of a nearby Home Deposit.
