Senator Thom Tillis R-NC was on Meet the Press and explained that social security, Medicare, and Medicaid must be cut to stop the run-away national debt. If social security has a $2.89 trillion trust fund and it does and this fund can pay social security in full until 2037. Why would the Republicans claim they must cut social security to keep from running the deficit up? It is how the Federal government accounts for the money. The social security you pay is thrown into a huge pot along with Federal taxes and other Federal streams of revenue. Social security department is issued government treasury bonds in the amount of the social security paid in. So social security does not have a bank account where the $2.89 trillion is. What they do have is a filing cabinet with $2.89 trillion in US Treasury Bonds.

When Reagan raised social security five times it created the multi trillion trust fund which in effect was a political slush fund that was doled out to the ungodly greedy in huge tax cuts. Now the Republicans know that the $2.89 trillion social security trust fund will have to be paid back. There are only three options borrow the $2.89 trillion, raise taxes by $2.89 trillion or cut social security to the amount that is being paid currently by those who are paying social security, about 75% of current social security check. This would keep the current social security trust fund at the same level. Social security provided huge surpluses for nearly forty years but now the piper must be paid or cheated. The Republicans are for cheating the piper.

A crew went out to repossess a trailer near Ashland one day. They were met by the guy who had defaulted on the loan for the trailer who said, “you can’t get blood out of a turnip.” The foreman of the crew that was repossessing the trailer told him, “That is why we don’t sell trailers to turnips.” We did not pay social security for 50 years to turnips either.

The Republicans plan to play turnips when it comes to the social security trust fund. They are telling the baby boomer generation that you can’t get blood out of a turnip, so we are going to have to cut your social security checks. It is the same turnip song and dance the guy that defaulted on the trailer offered. Thom Tillis R-NC is the head of the Republican Committee to reelect the Republican Congressmen story is that the National Debt is way out of control and the interest on the debt is approaching what we spend on the military so the Republicans say there is no way that the social security trust fund can be paid back the money it is owed, in essence the government is a turnip. The funny thing was the Republicans had no problem adding a trillion dollars to national debt to cut the taxes on the ungodly greedy for the fifth time in the last 37 years.

Baby Bush tried to convince the American people that the $2.89 trillion social trust fund held in US Treasury Bonds was just worthless paper it didn’t work, and the Republicans were voted out of office. Clinton had run the government with a surplus when Baby Bush took over, “the Republicans battle cry was to give the people back their money” to justify giving to massive tax cuts to the ungodly greedy while they borrowed the money to wage two wars. No one was entitled to a tax cut while the national debt more than doubled in Baby Bush’s term in office it increased from $5,674,178,209,886.86 to $10,024,724,896,912.49. The Republicans were quite willing to increase that national debt by $5 trillion to cut the taxes on the ungodly greedy plus another trillion under Trump but to pay back the social security trust fund not one dime. Where is the chant from the Republicans to “give the people back their money now?” Social security trust fund is the people’s money and we didn’t pay it to turnips.

When the Republicans were chanting “Give the people back their money” who do you think got the lions share of the money? The ungodly greedy of course. The Bush tax cuts added $5.6 trillion to the national debt so it wasn’t a case of giving the people back their money. It was a case of borrowing $5.6 trillion when interest and other associated costs are taken into account between 2001 and 2018 to give away to the ungodly greedy. The top 1% got 30% of the Bush 2001 tax cut and it is still in effect.

One has to contrast that with what the Republicans want to do about social security. One thing they are not saying for sure is, “Give the people back their money.” What the Republicans are saying is the government was put into so much debt to give the ungodly greedy a massive tax that somebody is going to have to pay for it and they want to use the $2.89 trillion social security trust fund to pay for the tax cut. I forgot they already used the $2.89 trillion social security trust fund to do that and want to simply declare the $2.89 trillion in treasury bonds “worthless paper.” Baby Bush in fact already did that. Can you imagine that US treasury bonds being worthless paper?

The baby Bush tax cuts will continue to run the national debt up in the future. The national debt was on schedule to be paid off in the early nineties until Reagan started giving massive tax cuts to the ungodly greedy. The result was that Reagan tripled the national debt. The obvious solution is not to gut social security but return the tax rate on the wealthy to what it was when Reagan took office.

Trump has changed America and not to the better. We are now entering a new era in American politics. Trump is a bully by nature which means he is a natural born coward. Cowards try to get their way by intimidating others. Stand up to them and it will be hard to see them as they go out of sight. Trump knows he can not take direct action against the American news media, but he can incite violence through twitter and his campaign rallies. The media has pointed out many times that when Trump labels the mainstream media “the enemy of the people” that it is a thinly vailed attempt to incite violence. Bombs were mailed across the country to people who Trump’s has listed as his enemies. Did Trump do it? Not directly but indirectly Trump is responsible.

It is not necessary for bombs to be sent to every member of the mainstream news media to intimidate them. Trump’s most ardent followers are the neo-Nazis and the KKK and they would do anything to keep the first president in the modern age to be supported by the neo-Nazis and the KKK in power and they are not the only radicals that support him. Think of what John Hinkley did to impress Jodie Foster, he tried to kill Reagan and she was only a 13-year-old girl. Imagine what some people would do to impress Trump especially if he pushes them in that direction. The ten pipe bombs won’t be traced back to Trump, but the will be traced to his followers.

Sure, enough it was one of Trump’s rabid followers that tried to assonate two past presidents along with several other politicly active people. What all the victims had in common was they had all criticized Trump at one time or another. Trump of course blamed the news media for daring to criticizing him in the first place. Trump does not think the mainstream news media should be able to do negative stories about him and his press secretary, Sarah Sanders, even offered that as a justification for the bombings. The message from the Whitehouse was clear if you criticize Trump you do it at your own peril.

Trump like most conmen is good at deflecting guilt Trump is the one calling the mainstream media “the enemy of the people” and when he was confronted about the bombing he continued to blame others. When the bomber was caught his van was covered with the victim’s pictures some with a red rifle sight over their faces. The pictures had one of Trump’s own slogans on it, “drain the swamp.” These posters were professionally made, and no doubt distributed at Trump rallies. It is very simple to see whose rhetoric caused this if the news media rhetoric has caused the bomber would have sent the bomb to Trump, but it was the other way around it is Trump’s rhetoric caused the bombings.

The pictures of the bomber show him at Trump rallies and he is close enough to say catch and throw a bomb to Trump. They call them fans those that are obsessed with celebrities. Fan is short for fanatic and in this case that is more than true. One has to wonder how the secret service let someone like this get so close to a sitting president. Trump has attracted more than his share of fanatics and we can expect more political violence as Trump eggs them on and blames others.

“There is no known defense against insinuation—the art of planting ideas in people’s minds by dropping elusive hints that take root days later, even appearing to them as their own idea. Insinuation is the supreme means of influencing people.”

From the book “Seduction” by Robert Greene

____________________________________________________
Today we saw another mass murder take place where 11 people were killed at religious service. The shooter was extremely unhappy that the synagogue that he attacked was responsible for bringing immigrants into the country for over a hundred years. Trump has made immigrants his dragon to slay. Mexicans were rapists, drug dealers, gang members and other criminals. According to Trump the problem is so serious that a 2,000-mile wall must be built to keep immigrants out. The shooter was just doing his part to help Trump keep immigrants out of America. All the while Trump continues to bring immigrants into the country to work for him at his businesses
.
Seduction is far more than sexual all politicians seduce their followers. John Kennedy was extremely good at that art. Trump’s idea that were so shocking at first, have now been insinuated into millions of minds in America. Watching parts of a Trump rally I couldn’t help but vaguely remember I had seen films of this type rally before, it was in Germany before WWII. Trump studied Hitler’s speeches and was often given the Hitler salute by friends and family at one time. Hitler was a master at seduction and Trump has reached deep into Hitler’s play book for Hitler’s secrets. Trump’s first wife said that Trump kept a copy of Hitler’s speeches on the bedside table. Hitler’s dragon was the Jews Trump’s speeches are just Hitler’s speeches with the words changed.

“What distinguishes a suggestion from other kinds of psychical influence, such as a command or giving of a piece of information or instruction, is that in the case of a suggestion an idea is aroused in another person’s brain which is not examined in regard to its origin, but it is accepted just as though it had arisen spontaneously in their brain.”

Sigmund Freud

They call it a dog whistle because like a dog whistle only the dog hears it. When Trump says he is a nationalist he is careful not to say “white nationalist” but the KKK and Neo-Nazis know he is with them. When Trump said the Neo-Nazis and KKK were fine people after the demonstration in Virginia were someone was run down by a Neo-Nazi and killed. When Trump says the mainstream media is the enemy of the people he does not say run out and lynch them, but he plants the idea through suggestion. Trump fully believes that the mainstream media should act as a public relation firm for him and that is the only purpose they should serve. Trump did not tell the bomber to send 14 bombs, but he planted the idea that violence is the answer to political problems.

Every politician tries to build a coalition of supporters it may be the Christian right and the anti abortionists, but this is the first president in nearly a hundred years to court the extreme right Neo-Nazis and the KKK. The vast majority of people who ran for president did not accept the endorsement and would return any campaign contributions from the hate groups but not Trump. Trump was more than proud to accept the endorsement of the Grand Dragon of the KKK and campaign contributions from various hate groups. When the hate groups marched across the University of Virginia at night with torches chanting “Jews will not replace us.” Was Trump worried about the open hate? No, he was quick to defend them as “fine people.”

The problem isn’t so much as Trump identifying with the radical right as the radical right identifies with him. At this stage of the game Trump does not want to alienate the KKK and Neo-Nazis because they vote, and his coalition is razor thin. At one time in the distant past in America if you were going to get elected you needed the KKK’s endorsement. Robert Byrd, the Senate leader was not only endorsed by the KKK he was a card-carrying member. In his later years Byrd’s life was threatened and FBI team was stationed in front of his house a black female FBI agent asked to use his bathroom and Byrd refused her telling her to go up the block to a gas station. Can you imagine someone that is there to take a bullet for you and you refuse to have her in your house? Byrd was a racist, but Trump is an opportunist it is not a matter of deep-seated beliefs it is nothing personal it is just business.

There is more than one way to wreck an economy. Right now, everyone believes that the economy is going good despite the stock market steep dive this month. One other way is hyper inflation when prices get out of control. Inflation has been very moderate over the last several years but in 1979 inflation reached 13.3% followed by12.5% in1980 and 8.5% in 1981. That was 34.3% in just three years. That meant if you were on a fixed income you lost more than a third of your buying power in three years.

The Fed is raising interest rates to try and keep inflation under control. The Trump tariffs are going to push up inflation far more than people think. A trip to the mall to buy a pair of loafers convinced me that inflation in America is in overdrive. What I bought in June for $20.00 now costs $50. I have bought a lot of shoes at Coles over the years but the cheapest thing in the store was $50. I tried a discount shoe store in the mall which was a little bit better at $44.95 but that is over 100% inflation rate in five months. Trump filed for bankruptcy six different times cashing his stock in and leaving the stockholders holding the bag the seventh time Trump files for bankruptcy it will be America that goes down the tube.

The inflation rate in 2018 will be nearly 4% if it stays at the same rate it was through the end of May but most of the effects of the Trump tariffs won’t be felt until the second half of the year. If that inflation rate holds it will take as back to 2007 and you know what happened next. Hold on tight the ride is going to get bumpy.

Trump has now announced that he is going to rewrite parts of the Constitution of the United States with executive orders. If Trump has the power to rewrite the Constitution with executive orders, we are in trouble. Trump contends he has the power to rewrite the 14th Amendment so that being born in the United States will no longer entitle one to citizenship in the United States. Trump does not like what the 14th Amendment says so he contends it can be amended by executive order. The founding fathers made provisions so that the constitution could be modified with constitutional amendments and there is a very specific procedure to amend it.

In order to amend the Constitution, it takes two thirds of the House and two thirds of the Senate or it requires three forth of the state legislatures to amend the constitution. The procedure to amend the constitution is laid out under article 5. Nowhere is there any mention that an executive order could be used to amend or modify the Constitution.

If Trump has the power to modify the constitution with executive orders, then he could modify other parts of the constitution. Where would it stop? Trump is the consummate conman and by telling his base that being born in the United States will no longer entitle one to citizenship his followers will believe it whether he has the power or not. One has to wonder if Trump rules that being born in the United States no longer entitles one to citizenship what will? Since Trump is a white nationalist will only white children be entitled to citizenship in Trump’s brave new world.

Trump stated today that if the caravan of immigrants threw rocks when they got to the border the military would consider that they were being fired on and would open fire on the men, women and children in the caravan. Trump is going to use the most advanced military on earth to gun down defenseless women and children. Each day of the Trump administration America begins to resemble pre-world war two Germany. Germany did not go from being a nice place to live to gassing Jews in gas chambers overnight it took a number of small steps over years for the population to accept the gas chambers. But the Nazis did not gas most of the Jews when they took a town they just dug a huge trench marched the Jews into the trench and the military gunned them down. Exactly what Trump has proposed today.

After WWII the question was could what happen in Germany happen here? To answer that question Stanley Milgram designed an experiment to see how people would obey authority. The results were shocking. The experiment required the subject to deliver shocks to a confederate of the experimenter every time he gave a wrong answer and to increase the shock each time he gave a wrong answer. The voltage was increased up to 450 volts by 65% of the subjects. No shocks were actually delivered but the confederate would scream in agony. What that tells us is if Trump set up gas chambers in America today 65% of Americans would have no problem gassing the illegal aliens if an authority required them to do it. The choice may only be a few weeks away for members of the military.

The military knows that to kill people in mass you need to dehumanize them, in WWII the Japanese were referred to as gooks and the Italians as woops. Trump started the prosses by calling the immigrants, rapists, gang members, drug dealers and murders when he started his campaign. Trump is amoral, building gas chambers or shooting them at the border would not bother Trump if he thought he could get a vote. In Germany Hitler made the Jews the enemy. Trump has made the immigrants the enemy and Trump is of German extraction. Trump is not against immigration as long as it is from countries where they look like him. We can feel morally superior that it could never happen here, but the United States has reached a turning point where the white Americans are no longer the majority in parts of the United States.

It was a bad day here today the Liar and Chief was in town today this makes his eight trip to WV. Trump is barn storming the country with all the secret service and Air Force one. Trump is campaigning for 2020 already and it must be costing the taxpayers a fortune. The fate of the nation is at stake in Tuesday’s election. The smart money now says the Democrats will take the House back but don’t light the fireworks yet. We all remember the 2016 election when all the polls were wrong. The House can impeach Trump, but the Senate decides what punishment Trump would receive. Clinton was impeached by the House, but the Senate acquitted him. The Senate requires a 2/3 majority to remove a sitting president. Even if the Democrats win control of the Senate removing Trump from office would not be possible. The best we can hope for is that a democratic House will stop the Trump craziness from destroying what is left of our democracy.

Baby Bush bought us $4.20 a gallon gasoline. The Arab oil embargo of the seventies tripled the price of gasoline. Now Trump has created yet another artificial crisis by dropping out of the Iraq treaty and putting sanctions on Iraq with the goal of totally stopping Iraq from exporting oil. We know from experience what happens when the world oil supply is disrupted. The sanctions become effective on Nov 5 after that date any tanker unloading oil from Iraq faces the full wrath of the US government. Oil futures have already reached $77 a four-year high. It looks like we can look forward to higher gas prices in the near future. Notice that sanctions won’t have time to really drive gas prices through the roof before the election. I’ll bet that was just a convenient coincidence. If gas suddenly went up to $4.50 before the election because of Trump’s stupidity the blue wave would become a blue tidal wave.

It was hard to believe the polls conducted for 2016 election were so wrong it was hard to come up with an explanation. One possible explanation was that many Trump voters were ashamed to vote for him and told people conducting the polls that they were voting for someone else. That sounds like a reasonable explanation when I explained that theory to my sister-in-law, she was very offended that Trump voters were in the closet.

The final NBC poll before the election showing that Democrats are polling seven points above the Republicans. This is a generic ballot meaning the question was which party would you rather see control congress? In the real world the election will be about individual candidates which could alter the results. The seven-point lead is also within the margin of error for the poll. One of the biggest supporters of a republican congress are those without a college degree 60% of them want a Republican congress and 36% want a democratic congress. It looks like there is hope even for that demographic. The evidently didn’t poll Neo-Nazis and the KKK because they would support a republican congress by close to 100%.

“During an interview with Bloomberg News on Tuesday, McConnell said that to get the Federal budget deficit under control –the federal deficit grew to $779 billion a year fiscal year 2018, the largest since 2012--- Congress needs to reform, Medicare, Medicaid, and social security.”
___________________________________________________________________________________

When Mitch McConnell says reform, you should read that as cut social security, Medicare, and Medicaid. I had a minor in mathematics in college and I will admit it has been several years since I was in college but If social security has a surplus of $2.89 trillion and the federal government has a deficit of $21.6 trillion the problem is not social security. The Republicans just added another trillion dollars to the national debt with tax cuts for the ungodly greedy. In fact, if the Republicans can completely strip social security of the $2.89 trillion trust fund, and baby Bush tried, it would only be a drop in the bucket compared to the national debt. The simple fact is that any business must price its products to what they cost to produce. The republicans have rammed through four rounds of huge tax cuts for the ungodly greedy and now believe the $2,89 trillion social security trust fund should be used to make up the difference.
_____________________________________________________________________________________

“I think it is pretty safe to say that entitlement changes, which is the real driver of the debt by any objective standard, may well be difficult if not impossible to achieve when you have unified government, McConnell told Bloomberg.”
____________________________________________________________________________________
McConnell evidently didn’t take math in college when you think a Social Security surplus is “the real driver” of the $21.6 trillion national debt you can’t add. Before Reagan took office, the National debt was on track to be paid off in the 90s instead Reagan tripled the national debt by giving huge tax cuts to the ungodly greedy. We know where the problem started, and we know what caused it. Reverse course and get back on track. If you vote for people who don’t even have a basic understanding of math the country is in more trouble than you realize.

The senate judiciary committee released a report about claims that Kavanaugh was mistakenly identified as the man who attacked Dr Ford. We know that experts in sexual assault have said that in acquaintance sexual assault the chances that a victim would misidentify her attacker are so slim that it is beyond a reasonable doubt. The Republicans actually got two different people to confess to sexually assaulting Dr Ford, well almost, they say that it was consensual. One guy actually remembered kissing a girl in a bedroom at a party in Washington 36 years ago and of course nobody ever kissed a girl in a bedroom at a party, but this is proof positive according to the Republicans that it was not Kavanaugh that sexually assaulted Dr Ford. One of the men actually said he believes he looked like Kavanaugh. He further said that a friend jumped on the bed that allowed Dr. Ford to escape and I’ll bet this friend looked exactly like Mark Judge, so she misidentified two people not one. The man’s name has been redacted from the committee report, so no one can check any of his story or his veracity. Since many of the details of his story matched Dr Ford’s story one would realize that the man had access to Dr Ford’s story before he came forward with his. Of course, there is one important difference between the stories the man claims he did not sexually assault Dr Ford.

The second man also says that he attended a party in Washington and kissed a girl who he thinks might be Dr Ford, so we have two men who think they might have been the man that sexually assaulted Dr Ford, no just kissed her. This guy thinks he looked like Kavanaugh. We know people make false confessions for one reason another but this smells of stories made up after they became aware of the facts.

Trump was taking a victory lap after losing control of one third of the Federal government. The Republicans did pick up a few senate seats, but they already had control of the senate. Losing control of the House means now that the democrats will take over all the chairmanships of the committees. The chairmen of the House Intelligence committee was so far down in Trump’s pocket he could hardly see daylight. Trump used him to release disinformation to the press and he did not consult the rest of the committee when he released information. Trump has promised to release his tax returns after they were audited but it been over two years and Trump went back on that promise but now, we will finally see his tax returns whether he likes it or not.

Trump may have put a good face on in public but his actions in his press conference speak much louder than his words. His angry confrontation with several reporters in his press conference betrayed his seething anger about losing the election for the House. There was an actual tug of war over the microphone with a CNN reporter and a white house aide. Trump followed that up by firing the attorney general, Jeff Sessions, and replacing him with a Trump lacky in a desperate attempt to keep his lying son out of jail.

Donald Trump Jr has told friends that he believes that he will be arrested for lying to the FBI. It seems when Don Jr told the FBI that his father didn’t know about his meeting in Trump Tower with the Russians, but it seems there are several witnesses that have testified that Trump knew about the meeting with the Russians beforehand. Lying to protect a psychopath like Trump Sr always ends badly.

America woke up to yet another mass shooting this morning, the three hundred and forth so far this year. You could tell that an assault weapon was not used by the fact that only 13 people died total. The weapon turned out to be a 45 caliber with an extra-large clip. The shooter was a machine gun specialist in the army. Imagine how many people he could have killed with an AR-15. In the Pulse Nightclub an amateur killed 49 a practiced professional could kill far more than 50.

The million-dollar question was why did he do it? This question always comes up and is seldom answered. The simple fact is there is no rational reason for irrational activities and to keep looking for them is a waste of time. The answer is irrational and is hiding in plain sight. A serial killer enjoys killing people but goes to a lot of trouble not to get caught a mass murder does not shoot a few people and flee into the night he fully intends to make this Custer’s last stand. The common thread through most of the mass murders is that the murder commits or achieves his goal of suicide through cop. What do we know about suicide? It is an irrational act closely linked to depression. Depressed people are in real pain in fact they are in so much psychological pain they will kill themselves to escape that pain. Someone who is severely depressed sees no value in their life or anyone else’s life for that matter. The murder suicides where the fathers and sometimes the mothers kill their entire family are closely related to the mass murders. For a man or a woman to kill their entire family is irrational. Forty million Americans suffer from depression the vast majority will not commit mass murder, but a growing minority will commit public suicide and mass murder and they are only the tip of a huge iceberg. Arming them with weapons of war is a mistake.

How common have mass murders become in the United States? So common in fact that three people who were involved in the Las Vegas mass murder, that set a record for 60 dead, were also involved in the Thousand Oaks, California mass murder. The odds that you will die in mass shooting is I in 110,154 far better than winning the lottery. This figure was based on mass murders going back to 1966. These odds would be much smaller if based on the 304 mass shootings in America so far in 2018. The Las Vegas shooting took place on Oct 1, 2017 a little more than a year had passed before the Thousand Oaks shooting and three people found themselves as targets in both shootings. Unfortunately, one of the three didn’t survive this time if I was the other two, I would stay away from country music gatherings for the rest of their lives.

Two types of forces exist in nature both creative and destructive, evolution has given us many forms of complex life, but one hurricane can destroy thousands of life forms. The same forces exist in men, we create great cities and then try and destroy the world. The trouble comes in when tools are designed to greatly multiply what a man can do by hand. Give a man a shovel and he can dig a few feet of ditch a day give him a backhoe and he can dig 100s of feet a day.

After the shootings in Thousand Oaks and Pittsburg the cries for gun control are growing louder and what is more important, they are coming from more people. With that in mind how did the Parkland shooting survivors’ election activities do? Were they able to make a difference? “Two dozen NRA backed candidates and long-time gun supporters were defeated in House contest, according to Giffords, the gun safety group. And 88 out of the 129 candidates the group backed were elected.” It would be nice if every candidate that took the blood money from the NRA was defeated but the longest journey starts with the first step. The article was written soon after Tuesday’s election when it looked like the democrats had lost the Fl. Governor and Senate race but as the votes are counted the margin is narrowing.

This is the first election where political commercials were run against the political candidates who took the NRA blood money. It pointed out that most Republicans got an A rating from the NRA. What I didn’t see was the endless infomercials run by the NRA at election time telling people the public that the government was going to take their guns if they voted for a democrat. The NRA spent far less money in this election due to the fact the Russian source of a lot of their money has died up after the FBI found where it was coming from.
