How could I have answered only two questions? I answered far more than that from ESL people. Doesn't matter. I find the right place.

Thanks, osso. You're a pal.

BTW, I meant to thank Panzade and olga for mentioning two of my threads as among the ones they like. I appreciate the acknowledgment. Olga, here's the link you asked for--to the Hebonics thread.

@Roberta,
Yeah. Hey that's right. I've only answered 16 questions. Maybe the ESL stuff is posed as discussion; maybe getting the Selected Answer counts. Anyhow, that can't be right.

@msolga,
Well...what can I say?

I enjoyed A2k more earlier on because of personal friendships and the whole atmosphere was, I guess, lighter and funner.

The full joy of fun that Abuzz could be never took off here for me...the ridiculous threads I love just seem not to work, generally speaking. I miss being able to riff and fly with people about multifarous things.

Probably partly the joy of the net generally was greater at the beginning? And a lot of the people I had most fun with never came over.

I guess now I am kind of disappointed at how hard it is to have a reasonable discussion about heated matters (not that I think Abuzz was better re this....I never ventured into politics there, for instance) because there is so little moderation...I have learned to ignore people who others see as ruining threads, but so many cannot, and get discouraged or assist in the drama and the discussion that interests me stops. I remember when I used to be the same...and I guess it was more exciting, but way dumber.

But I am probably being a bit bleak...I obviously enjoy A2k because I am still here.

Now there's a thought, Deb. You're probably right about that.

I, too, have thoughts about reasonable discussion (obviously, having discussed this on a few different threads), but don't really want to get into an argument about it on this thread.
But point taken.

@msolga,
I'm a member since October 18, 2002, have only answered two questions and made 50,296 posts.

My experience? It was 'nicer' in the early days.

But that really doesn't matter a lot. I've made personal friendships (though already from Abuzz-times: we meet [foreign] friends since those days on a regular basis more than once per year).

Feeling guilty. Laughing

I've been a member since January 19, 2005.

My experience here is "mixed", but still enjoy it.

Generally, my involvement is much down than from previous years, but a bit more than last year.

There are some really nice folks here, and some I just avoid.

Olga, you always come up with great threads! Wink

But then, I'm a bit of a sticky nose, I confess ...
I like to know more about what others think, about things that I think about.
It's interesting. Smile
