@msolga,
When all else fails, I use Joe Nation's translation method ("Stare at the words really hard until you see something familiar...")

Therefore, "Tantula odiosa sunt, Georgius Pedifollicus" must mean "Giant spiders stink, according to George, who has a lot of hair on his feet."

Reading through my Spontaneous Poems thread, I found this by cavfancier:

Bury me with roses
in ebony, not pine.
The roses shall remind me
of the days when you were mine.
The ebony will be the night
that I first kissed your eyes,
the roses' petals are your touch
beneath those starry skies.
In death we'll be united
as living we once were,
so bury me with roses
that I may rest with her.

I learned a lot from the Civil War thread. Someone posted a link about confederate ships in the Arctic Ocean to save the whales. This sounds real strange but I saw you like whales so

This is the link
www.css-shenandoah.com/
and that was really the ship that fired the final shots in that terrible War between the States:

The little tune you hear if you click on the link is called Dixie. "Whistling Dixie" is kind of code for whistling in the dark while walking through a graveyard and hoping to God nothing evil your way comes.

You're a nice lady Ms Olga so I wish you that nothing evil your way comes ever.

You ain't just whistlin' Dixie: "You're not just talking or making small talk, you're saying something important, worthwhile. 'Dixie' refers to the popular song."

Well that was a post worth waiting for, electronicmail!
I'm glad you got over your shyness. Wink
Thank you!

( Whales, did you say whales?
Now I'm going to have to go find the Civil War thread & check that out! Smile )

@msolga,
I don't think you want to do that, the language on that thread is shocking. The whales were only mentioned once in 40 pages, the rest is fighting for states' rights all over again. See for yourself

@electronicmail,
Only one mention of whales in the whole thread? Sad
I'm not going there then! Wink

Well - Australians are remarkable - but that shouldn't surprise Panz, who is, I think, about half a Skippy!

You and the bunny.
Msolga(who I miss terribly)
Dadpad and Hinge.(And others I may have missed)
All share a keen interest and knowledge of American culture, history and politics.
I find that remarkable.

@panzade,
and her old whaling thread. I think she wa too sensitive to interact with some of many of us who get kinda heavy handed. I was on her side on this one and I till think she wanted out.

Ive been giving considerations to FB now that Ive limited my work. Ive been contacted by several old colleagues who still teach and some from old drilling companies and even a guy who was with me when we were attacked by Biafran rebels in Nigeria. Maybe my concern bout FB nd its privacy issues may be going away.

Im getting creeped out by the science interactions here any more.
OH WELL

@farmerman,
You can use your name "farmerman" on facebook. At least the a2k facebook where we all hang out. I use my "Calamity Jane" there too! We have a book group, a cooking group, writing group (it's mainly edgarblythe) , movie/tv
group and music group where some of us hang out.
