I'm curious about Asians and skin color. I want to ask an Asian person for their input. It's not a racist question-I want to know if it's okay to ask my question. I'm not trying to be offensive-if it's going to offend people here I won't ask.
What obliges you (or anyone else) to use a term that refers to skin color? Did you start this thread because you weren't satisfied with the response that you got to the first thread.
No one was giving me a straight answer. I was told I should ask an Asian person.
People of color talk about skin color. Asians and Hispnaics do it. I sometimes talk about it.
you must a very differently set monitor than I do - or your vision is quite different than mine

It seems to me there is a huge variation in skin colour amongst Asian people just as there is amongst 'black' and 'white' people. I'm not sure why you need to categorise them unless you're doing some sort of anthropological study or similar. These women don't look orange to me at all .... Ernie from Sesame Street looks orange.
The big deal is that skin color has been used as a flail to flog people's self-respect and their position in society for several centuries now. Do you live under a rock? Why do you need to have this explained to you?
I have Asian friends who were talking about skin color. Not all Asians have yellow skin. I wanted to know if they find it offensive to refer to some Asians as orange. Why is this a big deal?
