Any Asians here? I want to ask a question about Asians and skin color.

@Miller,
Don't you know some Asians are obsessed with having white skin, and in some parts of Asia having dark skin is looked down upon?

So, given that the Raj and similar colonial institutions imprinted a specifically European standard of physical beauty on the cultures which they had colonized, you consider it no big deal to perpetuate the travesty. How sad.

White people have everything to do with it, because it is the aesthetic values of white people in personal appearance that have created this perversion of self-image. As it happens, i live in a city with a high concentration of south Asians. South Asians, victims of the Raj, are obsessive about skin color, although there is no evidence that it mattered before the Raj. I know of no east Asians who are obsessed about their skin color.

Considering Asia is the largest continent on earth and Asian's live in Russia to India, huge populations that run the gamut of "colours" this is a very stupid question. Some people want darker skin, others want to be lighter, the grass is always greener...

The only people I've ever seen that were orange were stupid white people who used too much product.
