Dys is enraged with me. I don't argue with him enough. which annoys him.

I am totally lost. At first, I thought osso was being humorous with her reason for starting this thread but right now, I have no clue what is going on. Whatever it is, I hope it works out well for everyone.

@Arella Mae,
It is a mess. We have huge issues.

Meantime, all of us don't hate each other. Or maybe we do.

Forget about it.

@ossobuco,
I have to stop reading this thread. I get more and more confused with every post.

@Arella Mae,
I was trying to be humorous while whining in starting this thread. Or, more correctly, sardonic.

Then look what happened.

Osso? Well I thought you were quite successful in your attempts to humuorogify the night's lagging sensibilities. Very Happy

@tsarstepan,
Well, hey, I got people talking.
Admittedly against me, which is too bad.

Dys is knowingly and deliberately cranky, and he has a highly developed sense of irony. However, I've found there isn't a trace of real meanness in him. I find it easy to like him and I have enjoyed myself when in his company. We don't argree about very much except that perhaps we both realize that there's usually more to most people and things than ordinary appearances. Diane cares for him and that tells me something too.

There are some perfectly nice folks out there who don't like me. However, I can't imagine that being true about Dys.

I don't think it's appropriate in a public forum to tell others they need help or they drink too much. It may not be correct, but it leaves the thought in other people's minds. I think that's a bit mean.

And from my experience with Dys, nobody needs to come to his defense; he's perfectly capable of handling his own issues.

@Rockhead,
This is interesting -

there is quite a distance between where things are made to appear on a2k, and where things really lay.

sometimes the ugly realities are best left undisturbed.

this would prolly be one of those occasions...

Nobody gets that Dys likes arguing.

I have "gotten it" from the beginning. I have been in his company on a few occasions. Arguing is his style. He has a very fine mind, and loves to kick ideas around. The way he does it is by arguing. Your personality is completely different, and probably find the arguing stressful.

Is it possible that because he is not feeling well, he may be getting a bit testy in his approach, and you are reacting to that? If it were me, I would give him a "pass" on that.

Osso, please don't take it personally. I realize that you are feeling hurt, but I think that you need to understand where he is coming from.

Oddly, I don't recall ever arguing with Dys. Still, we get along pretty well.

If this is some kind of new mexico thing, I hope it gets sorted out. I'll be heading to Coopers in may, as usual, wouldn't want to have to pass through a war zone or something, roadblocks, papers, and such. Smile

@wayne,
The only roadblocks are in the sourthern part of the state. If you want to miss them, just google something like 'Border Patrol Checkpoints in New Mexico'. They're kind of like the old Damon Runyon floating crap game that stayed in the same location for 12 years.

That is the credo of stalkers and blackmailers; there's nothing lower than them. The contemptible stalker you're quoting naturally looks out for himself - he'd rather operate in the shadows, which is the only place he can continue his activities undisturbed. You follow his advice at your peril.

Look at the bright side: the stalker (for all I know also a blackmailer, but then I never read his posts) is the only one here telling you to drop your complaint. Ignoring him is by far the best course of action. You got problems, air them by all means, but try and be more specific.

Is your problem that you're not argumentative enough? Only you can decide, but dragging Dys into it would only make sense if he had nobody else to argue with, assuming he wanted to - and that's clearly not the case. You got computer problems? Well Dys didn't cause those. What else is wrong?

@farmerman,
Amazing to me how threads like this can swing in such different directions between serious and whacky. Sometimes people who know nothing about the people involved (or even the thread itself) make comments that are off-the-wall. Other times it's that people who do know what's going on misinterpret the tone of some of the comments.

For once (on a longer thread like this), I actually follow (what can be followed) almost everyone from the start. Have I graduated yet? Hell, it's been 12 yrs!

IMHO, this isn't all that big a deal. I do want to say, though, I hope Dys feels better soon.

Have you ever spent any time with him, in person? IMO, he is one of the nicest individuals that I have been fortunate to meet in my lifetime.
