Osso. Finished a book called "Die in Plain Sight" Its a mystery involving possible forgery, murder, duplicity, and bad manners. It revolves around the work of a California PleinAir landscapist. Its a good read , a little longy for the topic, but still petty ok. For some reason I made a note to PM you about this. I think you said you were interested in the Calif Impressionists. Right?

Yes, I sure am. I also collected mysteries about art for years until I recently got rid of a batch of them. Thanks for the tip...

I've been working on this series of abstracted flowers

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y98/vivien2/eflowerpaintinjgsnov06sofar007.jpg

this is smallish, about 14x16 inches on canvas. I used acrylic inks, acrylic paints, a little oil paint in the final layer and oils pastel.

oil on canvas, 24 inches square

I'm just finishing off a 30x40 inch one and some are framed behind glass (on paper)

I'm exhausted! been working long hours and trying to keep up with the painting

Help, HEEEEELP! Oil paint not drying. Well, only brown. Won't dry for the devil. It seems too oily or whatnot. Is there any trick I can use? Any chemical that would dry it out?

did you add lots of linseed oil as you painted? if you did it will take a loooooong time!

You only really need linseed oil in the final layers IF necessary, don't overdo it.

If that isn't the reason then oil paint used thickly will take about a week depending on the colour (earth colours do dry quicker).

I use Griffin Alkyds, oil paints with a drying accelerant incorporated, if I'm in a hurry for things to dry. They dry overnight.

You can use a drying medium as you mix paints but it's too late now! if you try to accelerate the drying the paint may crinkle and look terrible, so it's a case of being patient.

Hope this is some help.

Sad i didn't use any linseed oil. just the paint straight out of tube.other colors are drying ok, but brown is, for some reason, like smeared oily poop....sorry for the visual. so you say it will dry eventually? i sure hope so, otherwise i'd have to toss it. which wouldn't be a tragedy, it's just a silly cutout of a reindeer that i made for my theatre show...but still. took some time.

Unfortunately there is a lot of brown in a reindeer.
