Check out the Obama 2008 thread in an hour or so for some polling stuff on how he does against the leading Repubs. I acknowledge that it is all pretty fluid at this point.

Yaknow, I would feel a lot worse about the Dem's Senate prospects, if the Republicans weren't in fact hanging their hats on cutting Medicare as a way to save money - just one cycle after they campaigned heavily that the DEMS were cutting Medicare, and they would protect it.

They'll never be able to square the positions up.

@Setanta,
Thanks for the additional info. I couldn't be comfortable with him, either.

@firefly,
That Trump assessment seems plausible.

It's amazing to read about you libtards attempting to pick who will be the next Republican / Conservative nominee.

Do you consider me to be a "libtard" who should not deign to comment on who the Republican candidate might me? If not me, who did you mean?

@realjohnboy,
Libtards is the plural of libtard meaning more than one.
I didn't single out anyone, I identified the collective.

Do you consider yourself a member of the collective?

How on earth did you refrain from saying "Good career move."? That would have been nearly poetic.

@H2O MAN,
I wouldn't be at all surprised, h20boy, considering that they lie as easily as they breathe.

Some sort of a cosmic justice there, doncha think?

Oh, now here's an obvious winner!

Quote:
Rep. Peter King, whose national profile has climbed as head of the U.S. House Homeland Security panel, is leaving the door open for a possible presidential bid.

The New York congressman, responding to a powerful hometown Republican's suggestion that he run for president, said he was taking a wait-and-see approach.

"Let's see what happens," King told The Associated Press in a telephone interview Wednesday. "This is something out of the blue. It is a great honor, but right now I am focused on getting re-elected to the House next year." More

@JPB,
I saw on a bunch of the political blogs today that Huntsman plans to make Florida the base for his 2012 campaign -- should he decide to run. I still don't know a lot about him, but I'm sure that has some significance to politicos.

@H2O MAN,
Does this mean that you don't know that Cain is black? That'd be interesting.

IrishK, main thing I can think of is that he'd be trying to stake out the southern vote, which is kind of up for grabs since Huckabee is not running. (And is important to get.)

Is Huntsman the guy to get that vote, though? From what I can see from his background and demeanor, that doesn't seem super likely. Then again, I can't see Romney or Daniels getting it, either, so...
