@Ticomaya,
Do you have a study to show that Tico?

Here's the piece on Fox viewers knowing less about the news than people that watch no news at all.

@parados,
Did you actually read the study report ? In the first place there is no data provided to assess the statistical significance of poll results for individual questions. The only significant or consistent finding appears to be that watching the Sunday news shows involved the highest correlation to the correct answers in the poll. Although it wasn't headlined watchers of MSNBC also figured prominently among the wrong answers. Interestingly listeners to (largely conservativer) talk radio corelated well with right answers. That tidbit was buried in pace two of the report.

Do you take any of this **** seriuously?

If you were referring to your earlier paragraph, then no, since it didn't address the issue we were discussing.

On the contrary. You labelled it as "a piece on Fox viewers" when in fact it was far broader than that, and although the subject matter and sample size make it superficial in the extreme, the Fox (and MSNBC - tho you left them out) conclusion was no more substantial than the one on (conservative) talk radio - and they contradict one another.

Moreover there was no "inssue" under discussion between you and Tico. You were merely throwing **** at each other ... just as we are doing now.

Not that long ago, herman cain said to anyone listening that if you aren't rich, it is your fault. Now, he says that the woman who went public on their affair was only receiving financial help from him. Why didn't he tell her it was her fault that she wasn't rich?

@georgeob1,
I merely pointed out that a piece exists on Fox viewers knowing less and was wondering if Tico's piece comparing liberals to ants existed. How nice of you to jump in and give us your in depth view of the validity of the piece I presented.

Hell, you read all the way to page 2. Wow! And then you want to accuse me of throwing ****?

You will note I never claimed the piece was valid or proved anything. But in your inimical style you wanted to claim I said things I didn't.

@parados,
You presented it as having meaning and substance that Tico's obviously flippant remark did not. It turns out you were dead wrong. No problem... I expect that.

@georgeob1,
When did I present it as having meaning?

I presented what POM had mentioned as existing which could be considered "substance" but it certainly wasn't a statement about my beliefs of the RESULTS of the study having any meaning or substance.

Frankly, I would love to see a study that compares any political philosophy with ants. I was hoping it existed. Maybe it does and Tico can post a link like I requested. I would be as bemused by that as I was about the ability of different news sources to inform their viewers.

@spendius,
If you want better opposition, you need a better demon. If you want Valley Forge, you better send the British.

Does Newt get a free ride?

Quote:
No backlash for Gingrich policy shifts
By Jackie Kucinich, USA TODAY Updated 1h 49m ago

WASHINGTON – Former House speaker Newt Gingrich has criticized former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney for inconsistent comments on conservative issues, although Gingrich's record shows that he, too, has been inconsistent on many of the same issues.

As Gingrich has risen in the polls from an also-ran to a top contender, his contradictory positions on several issues have come under increased scrutiny. Those include his support for the individual health care mandate that he now describes as "unconstitutional;" his long relationship with housing lender Freddie Mac during a time when he was critical of politicians for propping up the government-sponsored enterprises and his view on the impact of climate change.
Unlike Romney, however, Gingrich has not seen a backlash with the base. Instead his stock among conservatives has recently experienced a resurgence. Several former aides say that's because of his long record in conservative circles and others to the passing fancy of the right wing of the Republican Party.

Prob, the repubs are desperate to find someone to rally around. A lot of stuff that normally does not get overlooked does now for anyone not named Romney.

Romney is a wolf in sheep 's clothing, as his dad was.

In his heart n mind, he is not one of us.

Newt is one of us, philosophically, but only to a moderate extent.
He knows the words, but not the music; or maybe he just does not care
much about the music of personal liberty, at the expense of government jurisdiction.

I 'm a little concerned that Newt might lean slightly further left
than he 'd have the GOP believe, but not a lot.
I 'm not fully committed to him yet.

That Ron Paul video was not clear enuf
to be good evidence as the foundation for a judgment.
