I am not saying I believe this, but you are now on notice that you need to back up your assertion. Who says that austerity has not worked?

Asshole. I said using American vernacular his views would be considered liberal. I Made a point to say that to avoid comment from you.

@Lash,
Don't be ridiculous, not under any vernacular would he be considered Liberal, which is centrist. He's a Socialist pure and simple. You don't understand what Socialism is.

I'd rather be an 'asshole' (sic) than some brain dead dilettante whose pig ignorance is truly breathtaking.

I doubt any of the voters paid much attention to what was going on your side of the pond. They were thinking about our last General Election and Labour's drift right since Blair got in.

@izzythepush,
There's a great cod-political analysis in terms of cows, part of which goes: Conservatism: you have two cows. And you're bloody well keeping them away from those poor people, because they enjoy being poor.
Socialism: you have two cows. The government takes one and gives it your neighbour.
Liberalism: you have two cows. But they both wander round freely and you can't ever manage to milk both together. The better parts of the rest of it include: Capitalism: you have two cows. You sell one, buy a bull, and then starve in order to feed the calves.
Communism: you have two cows. The government takes both and gives you some of the milk.
Facism: you have two cows. The government takes both and sells you the milk.
Federalism: you have two cows. You milk both, but then both cows assert their sub-federal autonomy and veto your central authority to drink the milk. The alternatives to this are almost endless, of course.
M B Drennan, Oxford UK

Liberalism looks a lot like Socialism here. Currently. In the country I was talking about. Not yours.

@McGentrix,
I know. I thought it was interesting, kinda of a left wing Hawkeye, all the cocky self confidence and just a fraction of the the vacuous pomposity.

@Lash,
You can trump out old cliché's if you want, but cutting and pasting something you found on the internet doesn't count as thinking for yourself.

What is it you teach anyway? I told my daughter you were a teacher and she thought it was terrifying.

@izzythepush,
American liberalism. The fledgling American brand of Socialism.

Stop trying to drape this country with European definitions. Hypocrite.

Cliches doesn't use an apostrophe, dbag. Thankful you don't teach English!

Jesus Christ, I enjoyed that laugh. Thanks, mate!!!

tell me, was there an appreciable turnout among the young voters this time?

@farmerman,
I don't really know. There's been a change in voting rules meaning Labour supporters can vote if they pay £3. Some 4,000 have been rejected as supporters of other parties, but there's no breakdown re age of voters.

The hope is that Corbyn can connect with the younger voters, similar to what has happened in Scotland. Also the disillusioned non voters and those who voted Green or UKIP.

@hawkeye10,
All those countries that have claimed "success" are because theyve slipped into sdeficit spending of public works, not austerity. Heres an article by Krugman for the Guardian. Even the NYT wouldnt have him write such long stuff , what with Americas ADD problem

@Lash,
Oh shut up you stupid idiot. You tried to apply your, completely ignorant and unfounded definitions, on Jeremy Corbyn. Then you try to pretend the exact opposite has happened. You do this all the time, especially with Snood, and it's getting really tiresome. You're just not smart enough to carry it off.

Socialist is not a rude word over here. After Nick's Clegg's stint as deputy prime minister Liberal is. Corbyn would feel very insulted to be called Liberal by some pig ignorant septic, so knock it off.

@farmerman,
The English, not the Scottish, young are disaffected, disconnected and feel they're all the same. Witness Nick Clegg's solemn oath to get rid of tuition fees then tripling them.

At least with Corbyn they can no longer say they're all the same.

The fear is that like in 1981 the tabloids will launch a smear campaign and the vote will collapse.

@izzythepush,
Shut your pie hole, hypocritical douchebag. And watch those goddamn apostrophes! My daughter retched when she was told about your barbaric punctuation. Please get some sort of education about your language. LOL.

How you love to march around in your little red coat shooting darts at people for using terms 'incorrectly' as they apply to your little country. Sod off, peckerbreath.

(Please insult me again. I have more creative terms for you.)
