@bobsal u1553115,
Here's hoping Trump lost some of the lunatic fringe with this opinion.

@snood,
tRumps's nobody's second choice and that will kill his chances. Conversely, I was listening to a NPR news show about Rubio and it talked about polls that indicate he's the most popular second choice, and that will only help him as the field narrows.

@bobsal u1553115,
Trump's self generated myth of his self made billionaire staus will be wiped out as his Atlantic City fiascos are made public should he even make it to primary time.

He inherited a pretty good pile of money and , had he merely invested it in SP 500 (multi cap) index funds, hed be far richer than had he fucked with his inheritance.
Hes like "lonesome Rhodes" (the Andy Griffith character from "A Face in the Crowd"). He believes his own bullshit.

Thats dangerous shen some blatherthwhaite believes he has valid answers

@farmerman,
I'm ex military and I considered it. And he was a flier, but fortunately because most folks aren't familiar with military time, its a great joke at Rick's expense. He may be familiar with 24hr clocks, he not familiar with an idiom that 99% of the rest of the nation is.

That's the best encapsulation of the Donald Trump 'thing' I've seen here. Well said.

That needs more analysis. A couple of weeks ago I read a claim that Trump wealth gain has massively underperformed his peers, which would mean that he is not as successful as advertised. I dont think that would hurt him though, because it would mean that he is a really good salesman, and we want to be sold hope and we want a POTUS who will sell America to the world.

Quote:
On working with women:

“I’m not a crusader for feminism, and I’m not against it, either. I’m just oblivious to a person’s gender when it comes to hiring people and handing out assignments.” (“Trump: Surviving at the Top”)

“It’s funny. My own mother was a housewife all her life. And yet it’s turned out that I’ve hired a lot of women for top jobs, and they’ve been among my best people. Often, in fact, they are far more effective than the men around them.” (“Trump: The Art of the Deal”)

“The [1997 Miss Universe] pageant in Miami Beach, my first as owner, was a huge success. We’d sold out the house; it was a mob scene. From my position offstage, I was able to glance up to the greenroom occasionally. I could just see Alicia Machado, the current Miss Universe, sitting there plumply. God, what problems I had with this woman. First, she wins. Second, she gains fifty pounds. Third, I urge the committee not to fire her. Fourth, I go to the gym with her, in a show of support. Final act: She trashes me in The Washington Post — after I stood by her the entire time. What’s wrong with this picture? Anyway, the best part about the evening was the knowledge that next year, she would no longer be Miss Universe.” (“Trump: The Art of the Comeback”)

“I grew up in a very normal family. I was always of the opinion that aggression, sex drive, and everything that goes along with it was on the man’s part of the table, not the woman’s. As I grew older and witnessed life firsthand from a front-row seat at the great clubs, social events, and parties of the world — I have seen just about everything — I began to realize that women are far stronger than men. Their sex drive makes us look like babies. Some women try to portray themselves as being of the weaker sex, but don’t believe it for a minute.” (“Trump: The Art of the Comeback”)

“Women have one of the great acts of all time. The smart ones act very feminine and needy, but inside they are real killers. The person who came up with the expression ‘the weaker sex’ was either very naive or had to be kidding. I have seen women manipulate men with just a twitch of their eye — or perhaps another body part.” (“Trump: The Art of the Comeback”)

“There’s nothing I love more than women, but they’re really a lot different than portrayed. They are far worse than men, far more aggressive, and boy, can they be smart. Let’s give credit where credit is due, and let’s salute women for their tremendous power, which most men are afraid to admit they have.” (“Trump: The Art of the Comeback”)

http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/book-party/wp/2015/08/05/donald-trump-on-women-sex-marriage-and-feminism/

Plus for years we have watched him practice gender fairness on "the apprentice".

Liberals cant stand that he takes equality seriously enough to tell women off if they deserve it. This is a very definitnent no-no with them, men are always supposed to be deferential, even when the women are wrong.

****. That.

I know. I saw it after years of watching Andy and Barney in Mayberry. Quite a shocker.

@snood,
He was one hell of an actor. His portrayal was pitch perfect. In fact I think in retrospect he did a better job than Patricia Neal and the other more established actors. I don't know if you have seen "No time for Sergeants" released in 1958, but it is a howling good time. Griffith was from North Carolina and a graduate of UNC. He releases a number of comedy albums including "What it was, was football". Mr. G'bag grew up in Raleigh, North Carolina, Griffith's comedy routines were so loved by the locals, that the Mr. performed "what it was was football" when he was in 6th grade. It killed.

Yup GB, I'm a longtime fan of Andy Griffith. I've heard the whole "football" bit, and I think the Gomer Pyle character was sort of lifted from the "No time for Sergeants" character of Pvt Stockdale. Promise not to tell anyone? I have several seasons of Andy Griffith Show on dvd.
