@Lash,
I've heard that the President's tweet is a counterfeit. But it was a hoot because the doubters checked Trump's tweet, which is real but never checked the President's.

Nothing like a well crafted joke.

I guess Melania has learned well from her husband. She plagiarized her speech from ... Michelle Obama.

Quote:
From a young age, my parents impressed on me the values that you work hard for what you want in life; that your word is your bond and you do what you say and keep your promise; that you treat people with respect,” Trump told the thousands of Republican delegates and assembled media on Monday night in Cleveland.

In 2008, Mrs. Obama said, “You work hard for what you want in life; that your word is your bond and you do what you say you’re going to do; that you treat people with dignity and respect, even if you don’t know them, and even if you don’t agree with them.”

Trump’s spouse also lifted a line about children from Michelle Obama, saying, “We want our children in this nation to know that the only limit to your achievements is the strength of your dreams and your willingness to work for them.”

In 2008, Michelle Obama said, “We want our children — and all children in this nation — to know that the only limit to the height of your achievements is the reach of your dreams and your willingness to work for them.”

RNC forced to close online convention chat after anti-Semites turn it into a Jew-bashing hatefest

http://2d0yaz2jiom3c6vy7e7e5svk.wpengine.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/Screenshot-93-e1468869130437-800x430.png

You can live stream the Republican National Convention on the RNC’s official YouTube page, but you can’t chat about it live anymore.

Why, you ask? Because the Republicans have now disabled the live chat window on the page after it got overrun by anti-Semitic Trump supporters.

As former Hawaii Gov. Linda Lingle gave a speech promoting inroads that Republicans have made with Jewish voters, as well as ripping the Democrats for allegedly being more hostile to Israel, Trump’s alt-right followers flooded the page with anti-Semitic vitriol.

Among other things, the Trump fans wrote “Press H for Hitler,” “JOOS,” “BAN JEWS,” “OY GEVALT,” and “KIKE.”

@engineer,
I don't see why it's any big deal that Melania Trump took so many lines off Michelle's Obama's 2008 speech last night in front of the Republicans. Melania's a Playboy model. She's taken things off in front of people her whole professional life.

What in the world were they thinking? Didn't they know people would know? I mean it is so obvious, calling it "absurd" just don't cut it.

@revelette2,
Joe Biden was considered a leading presidential candidate back in the eighties when he took a whole section of the UK's Labor Party leader Neil Kinnock's speech almost verbatim as a campaign speech. The late night talk show guys really had a ball with that one-it was about being the first person of your family to go to "university"-Biden changed it to the American "go to college", but the rest of the section was almost word for word.

Wonder if the press, in this more tumultous election cycle, will do the same with Melania.

In hindsight it did seem odd when Melania talked about the challenges of being a black woman at Princeton.

I think he'll do just fine attacking on emails. The Democratic counterattacks on the topic are pretty silly in my view. But Mr. Trump isn't soliciting my opinion.

I was right. Trump should have picked Christie. His attacks against Hillary last night were brutal.

And yet, not a single word here about the content of any of the GOP speeches by Trump's family members or anyone else. Not a word of discussion of any of the political ideas expressed by Paul Ryan, Donald Trump Jr., Jeff Sessions, Kimberlin Brown. No mention of Trump's daughter Tiffany's description of Trump as a father. No mention of the speeches given by the people present during the Benghazi attack or by their families. It's as though the whole convention began and ended with the tiny fraction of Mrs. Trump's speech that some speech writer was stupid enough to plagiarize. If one of Hillary's speeches had turned out to contain a tiny duplication of another person's words, the A2K liberals would be falling all over themselves trying to excuse her and saying that some speech writer had done her a disservice. Didn't Joe Biden copy without attribution part of the speech of a Welsh labor leader when he ran for president in 1987? The fact is that the liberals will scan every word, image, and shape in a pro-Trump speech for any scrap that can possibly be made to look bad. It would be interesting to re-examine Hillary's past speeches to see if any little bit had ever been said by anyone else before.

If you want to discuss them, start the discussion. It seems you come on and complain that we aren't discussing the things you think are important, but then you don't discuss them. Tell us why Trump is your man if indeed he is.

Because there were no political ideas expressed other than "we hate Clinton."

Yawn

Everyone except rabid Republicans are sick to death of hearing about the Benghazi non-scandal.

The interesting thing to me is not the fact of the plagiarism, but the inability of anyone to admit a mistake. That, as someone would say, is huge.

Good grief. That's politics. Republicans do it, too, or hadn't you noticed? Be the change you want to see in the world.

Donald Trump's Walk of Fame Star Gets a Baby Border Wall

The piece is described by a representative of the British-born street artist as a "grey concrete wall ... complete with 'keep out' signs and topped with razor wire."

Plastic Jesus is behind other headline-generating pieces, including a life-size Oscar statue that appears to be shooting up heroin.

His latest motto, "Stop making stupid people famous," is featured on the miniature wall.
