I didn't, but have heard her before. She's no slouch. Not all agree with me (though Josh Marshall at TPM does along with quite a few others) that she'd be a great VP pick. Two women of their talents, intelligence, and clear-sightedness at the top would be wonderful. And as females tend to work together differently than men, they could be a real powerhouse. Further, I can't imagine that Warren would shift into a subservient role of the sort that would neuter her values. One argument against the idea is that the US is culturally not ready for two women. I doubt that is the case but even if so, Trump is the perfect chap to go up against.

Here's a future note... I've had a google news alert on Liz Cheney for several years. As you know, she's running again in Wyoming and this time she isn't screwing up. My guess (few polls yet) is that she'll win. She doesn't give a **** about Wyoming, she wants the WH and she is as bad as her father in every way. My reading is that she's setting up for the candidacy in four years. Something to keep an eye on.

The idea that referring to someone as "my" implies ownership is merely stupid. So, if I call someone, "my friend," someone thinks I'm claiming to own him?

"My friend" = "A friend of mine"

"My African-American" = "An African-American of mine"

Warning: I use the "n word" below. Thumb me down now to avoid seeing it.

At best, it's offensively tone-deaf. At worst, it's horribly, horribly offensive riff on "my nigger."

I think you've put your finger on it.

Nope; do you have a link to it?

This term is being bandied about lately. Did she really flay him verbally? Or just point out his faults?

It was carried live on MSNBC Thursday Evening at 19:13 EST. I don't know how to provide you a link, but I recorded her address. She was scathing, and she was spot on. Elizabeth Warren is a Senator from Massachusetts and is highly regarded by Democrats. I'm not sure how well known she is in Austrailia or if your press has paid attention to her.

Personally I agree with you completely, Elizabeth Warren would make a wonderful VP and make up for Hillary's "Sander" deficiencies. Won't work on those Sanderorbusters but that doesn't matter. What matters is she would keep Hillary to the left more than a centrist figure would in the administration.

Can't talk for Oz, but it's only thanks to A2K that I've heard of her.

@izzythepush,
Ms. Warren is a virtual unknown in Canada as well.

I've noticed she's well-known in some East Coast American liberal groups but when she comes up in FB discussions there is a surprising (to me) number of Americans asking who she is.

Here is some key parts of the speech Elizabeth Warren gave that is being discussed here. She really gets into about four and half minutes in.

I've watched that CSPAN piece 3 times. Finally someone in the public eye has articulated why Trump is a lousy idea for a President. She has defined him as the crude, greedy, cheat he is and laid bare the notion that Trump is a strong leader with a vision.

I'll vote for him if he builds and pays for that wall between the US and Mexico.
That's putting his money where is mouth is!

I know of her, but I don't watch television at all.

Found a series of videos connecting Senator Warren and the Trumpet.

There are not a few people in OZ who share the Don's bigotted viewpoint, but the general feeling amongst most people here is a simple WTF?

@Builder,
Trump's popularity only proves that racial bigotry is still alive and well in this country. Why he gets a pass from women is a mystery to me.

Expat Rupert Mudrock dominates all media forms in Australia, and we both know that he encourages division and enmity wherever possible. It's one reason I don't buy tabloids, or watch television.

It would seem the two candidates think a lot alike.
